It is NOT essential travel and is not necessary for your outdoor exercise. I live in a small village in the middle of the countryside, most of which is part of an estate and includes a lot of footpaths across parkland. At the weekend the village roads were FULL of cars parked along the banks to access the park for walking and it's not ok. If it's not within walking distance, it's too far to travel.

Could you message the Scottish CMO - she needs to know.

It's not for you or anyone else to say whether it's necessary or not for someone to drive somewhere for exercise. As I and others have said, not everyone can go for a walk from their house (eg no pavements and/or living on top of (or at the bottom of) a big hill. Or a disability which means they need to drive to somewhere accessible.
