Just that. Some people, like me, want to cook with it. I have just worked out (correctly I think) from Facebook feeds featuring play dough recipes that this is contributes to there being no flour.

Hi I'm that parent! I'm stuck at home with a hyper 21 month old, we used to go to play dates and such everyday so if I want to I will make playdough, I will make salt dough, I will dye and play with pasta, and play with corn flour! I have been buying from my local corner shop who always has the stock plus it helps them! Maybe shop locally and you'll find your precious flour :D I have had no issues

TBF I think people's perception on this might also vary depending on how well stocked their local shops are- there's not much around here (Greater Manchester) that you can't get, excepting hand sanitizer!

I'm also one who grew up poor and isn't a fan of crafting and messing with food, but I acknowledge it's my foible so to speak.

As a side note, play doh was being rationed at my local Argos as loads of types had already sold out.

I made mine with with flour only plain flour and yes I'll make it again! We are expecting to have our kids indoors most of the day and you begrudge them a little flour. Hmm

All shops round here are fine so it's hard to get annoyed about parents trying to find activities to occupy kids. We can also survive without bread so I never quite get why it's seen as an essential.

@CalmerViolet your local district council should be able to help get food to you. If you're not vulnerable then you pay for it but at cost price.

Wow you're really going to hate me and using flour to make messy play with my baby. And spaghetti and jelly.
Parenting is difficult enough right now so sorry for wasting food to give my child something different to experience since we can't go anywhere and I know babies don't know anything but doing something different and safe is as much for my sanity as is his entertainment and learning.
If it helps the spaghetti was repurposed as lunch.

I wonder what store bought play-doh is made from and if the righteous shoppers think that is a waste too.

I wonder what store bought play-doh is made from

Flour according to Hasbro. I googled it earlier.

Call Hasbro, tell 'em to stop wasting flour! Grin
