Nope, no flour or yeast of any description since all this began.

LoveFameTragedy · 06/04/2020 09:49

Yes. I got both fresh and dried from Ocado. Didn’t manage to get flour though...

Have you got any zero waste shops around you? I bought flour and yeast on Friday from our local zero waste shop.

HarrietTheShy · 06/04/2020 10:00

Ocado came through for me too.

eBay

Love - I've got flour but no yeast.....!

I've just paid a fiver(!) for some on Ebay as Ocado is showing no inclination to supply to me.

I tried Ocado and no luck, op I haven't found it for love or money .

Make a sourdough starter- no need for any yeast! Just flour and water

Apparently you can make your own....

My local bakers will sell yeast to people along with bakers flour, eggs, milk and fresh pasta. It's still perfectly ok here (Sydney suburbs) to buy your bread from the bakers rather than the supermarket as they are trying to keep people in work, as long as you observe social distancing requirements and don't take the piss (like Bondi). Not sure if it's an option for you?

HappyGG · 06/04/2020 10:29

I managed to get some fresh yeast from the bakery section in Sainsburys.

LightACandleHoney · 06/04/2020 10:42

Nope! I can get flour no problem, but haven’t been able to get yeast for weeks. I’ve been in Tesco, Sainsburys & Lidl. My mum has also been in Asda & M&S and neither of us can find any anywhere.

I bake a lot normally so this isn’t an unusual purchase for me - I just happen to be down to my last 2 sachets.

As for soda bread - that’s also a regular occurrence in our house anyway (we’re Irish) - soda, fruit soda, wheaten, cheesy wheaten, scones etc made several times a week.

I’m happy to keep making our usual soda breads but I want to be able to make other bread goods too. Might look online. (We can’t get Ocado here)
