To ask for help from any medics or anyone who has experienced a dc with chronic nose infections in one nostril?

Hi all just don't know what to do - was planning to take dd aged 5 to have allergy testing as she has had dark mucas in huge volumes (think up to 30 full nose blows per day, mucas an inch long dropping out of her nose if unblown) ranging from light green to very dark green. She gets sores round her nose from blowing which can then become impetigonised. She has been under ent for years and was discharged last year. She has been examined for objects up the nose, adenoid size, had the passages cleared under general anesthetic... And still she has this.
I have been back three times in the last year and told to keep monitoring and finally got allergy referral in feb.

I give her an antihistamine every day which helps in the reduction of snot production, we spray nasal saline solution up daily, I use vaseline as a barrier and anti septic if the sores look red, a tiny bit of antibiotic cream if they look like they are getting impetigo.

I watched her very carefully yesterday and I realised that the same nostril that is infected like this (it is only one side) is the side she sucks her them on and she makes a lightening quick move whereby she picks her nose and wipes it on her comforter (a bunny) !!!

So she is effectively infecting her own nose repeatedly, is that it?? Not an allergy or a foreign object or other ENT problem??

What do I do?? I've been trying to 'gently stop her sucking her thumb but is it time to take the bunny away and put a thumb guard on her?
I've bought the nail varnish to stop her sucking her thumb and was planning to only let bunny down for the night times but should I take it away completely, causing much distress?

Help.

Sorry to expand- whenever she has bunny she sucks her thumb, she wants bunny all the time which I don't allow, I think she wants bunny so she can pick and wipe her nose instead of using a tissue and may as a soothing habit Confused
