Really sorry for shamelessly posting here. My 1 year old has come out in this rash today. It's all done one side if side body as well as his legs and 1 arm. He is fine in himself and no fever. It doesnt seem to be bothering him. It's very bumpy! Does anyone have any ideas?
I did wonder about heat rash but it's really not been that warm here today and hes been in the garden most of it.

Thanks :)

Could be prickly heat even if it’s not particularly warm as sometimes my DD gets it depending on the clothes she’s wearing, or possibly mild grass allergy?

This might help www.nhs.uk/conditions/rashes-babies-and-children/

If it’s not bothering your DS and whitens under a glass maybe pop some rash cream on and see how it looks tomorrow Smile

Looks like dermatitis to me! (Not an expert though!) maybe your washing powder?

My toddler used to get that kind of rash on her back and I changed to eczema washing tablets for a while, she eventually grew out of it and it was back to fairy!

My son has had scarlet fever twice and his rash looked like that. Is it a bit rough like sandpaper? It started on his torso then spread down his arms and legs.

If your wee one appears to feel well though it may not be scarlet fever. There's usually a sore throat/swollen tonsils along with the rash.

Hope it's nothing serious and clears up soon OP.

I think all of those suggestions are possibilities! Although we havent changed washing powder or used anything different like that. I will keep an eye out and see how he is tomorrow. Hopefully it doesnt manifest into anything that needs looking at as now is not the time to be getting poorly! Smile

My DS (just turned two) had a rash sinikar to that a couple of months ago. Started at the top of back and chest and then spread down his sides and then finally the toos of his legs. He had a bit of a temp with it as well so took him to GP who said just a viral rash and to give piriton. He said it was reassuring that it was widespread over his body. Disappeared from each area before appearing on the new one then was gone completely in a few days.

screwcovid19 · 05/04/2020 21:35

Has he had his mmr in the last fortnight?

Crackerscheesescabbyknees · 05/04/2020 21:35

Looks like a viral rash. Wouldn't be surprised if a temp follows after. My kiddo always used to come up in a rash before coming down with a cold.

Hmmmmminteresting · 05/04/2020 21:39

Oh joy, I'll look forward to being quarantined with a kid with a viral infection then Blush
Thank you!

Hope he’s okay!

My daughter used to come up in a similar rash, or a prickly heat type rash, when she had a virus. Even sometimes just a cold would bring her out in a rash. It was never serious and didnt bother her.

Grumpos · 05/04/2020 22:57

Looks viral - My LO was poorly with unspecified viral infection earlier in the year. Was quite poorly. Hopefully yours comes and goes quickly and quietly!
