Tomorrow morning I am taking some bread and milk to a single mum to leave on her doorstep - this is part of my paid job, no heroics - she is self isolating.

I don’t have a phone number to call her first - what else do you think she might need?

I was thinking maybe an Easter Egg for the child?

Any suggestions welcome, thanks.

Do you know how old her child is, OP?

MadameBee · 05/04/2020 20:35

I think under 5.....

Tins of beans? Pasta sauces and pasta? Cereal? Eggs. Cheese. Something fresh - veg, fruit? Tea bags? Cordial? And an Easter egg would go down well, I’m sure.

MadameBee · 05/04/2020 20:36

I can’t buy wine ....

Is there no way you could drive past and ask before going to the shop?

Elisheva · 05/04/2020 20:36

And an Easter egg for her as well?

FuckThisWind · 05/04/2020 20:37

I'm a single Mum and I'm shielding. I have an 8 year old DD and I've just been asked if there's anything I need by a family friend. DD has asked for sweets. Just cheapo strawberry laces. Other than that, I think if you were able to find a half a dozen eggs and a pack of teabags, that would probably be pretty helpful.

FuckThisWind · 05/04/2020 20:39

Maybe a tin of tuna or something like that too.

OhioOhioOhio · 05/04/2020 20:41

Why can't you buy wine?

MadameBee · 05/04/2020 20:44

Because I work for the LA.

I can’t buy someone alcohol with public money.

OP posts:
MadameBee · 05/04/2020 20:44

And she might be a recovering alcoholic for all I know.

Nice shower gel. I like Original Source and it’s often reduced to £1 or so.
Biscuits.
Pre-packed thinly sliced ham.
Cheese.
Tinned soup.
Eggs.

Grumpos · 05/04/2020 20:53

Half decent pack of biscuits
Easter egg or sweets for little one
Beans / soup / noodles / pasta & sauce
Eggs
Grapes / apples / bananas
Fromage frais/ kids yoghurts
Cheddar

Grumpos · 05/04/2020 20:55

Oh cereal, porridge is good bc you can make it with water.

Lex234 · 05/04/2020 20:56

Tea/coffee/sugar
Shampoo/bubble bath
Toothpaste
Loo roll 🙄
Butter/margarine

JennysTailor · 05/04/2020 20:57

Along with previous suggestions- washing up liquid and washing machine detergent (non bio if she has a kid). That is what would come in handy for me anyway!

CuppaZa · 05/04/2020 20:59

Tinned goods
Pasta
Rice
Bananas
Loo roll
Hand soap
Eggs
Cheese
Washing up liquid
Cereal

San Pro? Can imagine some women would find it difficult to get out and get some.
