To think painting murals isn’t LOCKDOWN?

I saw this in the news - an artist has painted a couple of Banksy style murals in support of the NHS. It looks like the pub has requested she do it.

Whilst nice, I don’t think this is doing the lockdown guidance any good. AIBU?

A true support of the NHS would be if he or she had stayed at home

That’s my feelings too, Glummy. Nice picture, but she’s been stood on the street doing it. Not sure any one of the reasons we are allowed out fits this.

But then... am I just being a grumpy bugger because staying in isn’t helping my MH, but it’s the better of two evils.

I know where this is and it's not near anything that is open at all.
It looks fantastic so good on her I say.

Self employed artist who can't work from home no?

Pinkblueberry · 05/04/2020 20:34

I don’t think YABU. I’ve seen a few things like this in the news, like children drawing rainbows on roads or whole streets getting everyone to stand in the road to do a ‘lockdown workout’ and expecting everyone to go ‘awww that’s great, we’ll done you...’ I can understand it must be really tough for people who live alone and are missing the company - but really for most of us how hard is it to mostly stay at home for three weeks (possibly more but let’s cross that bridge when we get to it...) without pulling off some kind of do-gooding/attention seeking/ busy bodying stunt. What needs to be done - stay at home as much as possible - is so simple. And that’s the problem - it’s too simple for those do-gooders who just insist on being oh so special compared to everyone else and doesn’t gain enough attention for them.

People who can’t work from home are allowed to work.

I think it’s fine just a shame that it’s not the best art.

Hmm

As long as they stayed the proscribed 2m away from others and shouldn't have been self-isolating due to illness, I can't see a problem. They were doing a positive thing to bring enjoyment to others. As opposed to, say, complaining on the internet.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 06/04/2020 03:56

If the artist stayed 2m away from others at all times, and doesn't have symptoms, I can't see the issue myself.

If she was paid for it it was work. Work that couldn’t be done at home. Therefore, as long as safeguarding (2 meter rule) took place, I have no problem with it.
FGS we need to support how small businesses and individuals support themselves at this time.
