Hi all. My sister is a junior doctor in Liverpool. She was woken this morning by the police , informing her that her car has been broken into and a window has been smashed. She is devastated. She is working hard at the minute due to coronavirus and needs her car to get to and from work. She works long shifts and a taxi will be £20 each way every day. She has contacted her insurance who’ve said that they are closed due to coronavirus. Only emergency recovery if broken down on a motorway ( was a recorded message) She doesn’t know where to turn as her car isn’t even secure now. Police have said they can’t help at present as due to virus they are too busy. Any one know anywhere that is providing emergency repairs? I’m in NI so I can’t help her ☹️

I dropped you a PM. Hope you don't mind.

Where about in Liverpool is she?
Lots of garages are still open. Or there's that click mechanic website? Never used it personally though

She lives near the docks but has moved car to a friends drive in the Wirral as feels it’s more secure

If it's only the window that's damaged then she can have a google for mechanics that are still open and take the car in. She can still drive the car.

Replacing a window is a pretty straightforward process and usually costs £150 - £200.

See if a company like Autoglass can come out, it might be more convenient than having to take the car to a garage.

Yes, Autoglass. They are still going out to key workers so they'll sort her out. Hopefully, she'll get that fit bloke from the advert coming round to do it Grin

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Hopefully one of these will come through for her. I’m just so
Annoyed that someone would do something like this.

If you don't manage to find help through here, see if you have any local covid support groups on Facebook or try the nextdoor app using her post code and post what's happened there. I'm sure someone will know someone who can help.
