WWYD outdoor treasure trail...

Hi just need a reality check I think. DS local friend got in touch yesterday to say they've hidden a treasure trail around the local streets, envelopes with clues hidden locally. He's keen for my son to do it, (the other lad's family set the clues). It's a really cute idea, but I'm a bit nervous about touching stuff other kids might have touched (been quarantining post here for three days and wiping down deliveries, opening public gates with gloves etc). Am I being OTT or would the thought of your kid picking up envelopes from other families make you feel wary? Need to get an idea if I'm being sensible, or thinking too much...? Please be nice. Seen some really brutal comments on here lately. We are all just trying to get through this.. Thanks x

I have literally no idea why anyone would think this was a good idea at the moment. When this is all over yes but now no way. It’s just amazes me how some people can be so dumb.
No way would I be letting my kids anywhere near this

It's a really dumb idea - it's really not just you - it runs counter to everything we're being told about hygiene and Corona.

nope, no way and forget it. stay at home is for a reason. plus the hygiene aspect.

Thanks, making me feel less crazy. Getting eye rolled by the hubby for being nervous about it. I'm paranoid etc etc. I just think I'm being careful. Good to know others would feel the same... xx

Either leave it for a couple of days or make sure they wash their hands well afterwards.

Pretty sure that treasure hunts weren't on the government's list of reasons to go out.

Thisismytimetoshine · 04/04/2020 20:27

It’s not a really cute idea, it’s irredeemably dumb Hmm. What is wrong with people who don’t understand why??

Lunafortheloveogod · 04/04/2020 20:30

There’s simpler safer ways to do it if you want to suggest them.
“bear hunt” put a teddy in the window/front garden n then kids out walking can look for them, count them etc.

Dare say it could be made to work with clues and signs in the windows so contactless

One of my neighbours has put a quiz about the road on our Facebook. Group. We printed it off and are going to do it tomorrow. It'd just random questions like How many owl plant pots outside a house.

Yes I'd be happy with virtual or "non-touching" treasure trails for the time being. Will explain as nicely as poss to the boys parents why we don't want to take par. Thanks for your replies xx
