For getting annoyed my bathroom fitter took so long and charged 19% more than the estimate

He took 6 weeks and said it usually takes 3. He’s a lone worker. He was at the house every day, but seemed to make little progress.

His quote went up so much as he said the wall repairs cost that much. When he took of the tiles the plaster had all come away in one corner and as far as I know he sealed the wall with some green stuff and put the backing board on the wall. No wall would be perfect before tiling. I got a receipt and the boards cost £300 but he also used them on the floor, so I would say the true cost was £200 max.

I paid him £3500 for his labour and materials like pipes and grout - I spent £2k at the shop (his supplier) and extra £1100 on bathroom furniture I wanted.

No I didn’t get quotes because I couldn’t get people to quote/he came recommended.

Sorry but if it wasn't quoted it's very hard to contest the bill. Is it just 100quid that you feel he overcharged you?
