Gardener asking for work

millerjane · 04/04/2020 11:24

We have a large garden which needs a bit of work. It doesn't take much to make it presentable/nice. Pretty sure the neighbours aren't pleased with how messy it currently looks.

We usually have a gardener over Summer. I just received a text asking if he can come do some work as his cash flow is a bit tight.

Would it be okay to have the gardener come over and do some work? Obviously we wouldn't come into contact - talk through window/phone etc

Of course its alright. Get your hedge cut .

stickman12 · 04/04/2020 11:26

It's fine, he can come and do his job without seeing anybody

MsJaneAusten · 04/04/2020 11:28

Yes. This is fine surely? So long as he doesn’t come into your home and you maintain the distance?

Gingertam · 04/04/2020 11:29

I would. He's not coming into contact with anybody and it helps both you and him. My window cleaner turned up yesterday which was fine.

Deux · 04/04/2020 11:31

Yes it’s fine. He can’t do his job from home so he can go to work.

Just maintain the 2m social distancing. Our gardener is still working.

That said, one the the shrillseekers will no doubt be along any minute to tell you that everyone will die and it will be your fault.

BogRollQueen · 04/04/2020 11:31

Yes, our gardener came last week. He worked alone. We left the side gate open for him so we didn’t have any contact. Thanked him by text afterwards and transferred funds.

NotSorry · 04/04/2020 11:42

My gardener is still coming - he works alone

Astressie · 04/04/2020 11:57

Absolutely, finex

Toothsil · 04/04/2020 12:07

I'd say it's fine. We asked ours to come and cut the grass (DH has bad arthritis and struggles to do it himself and the lawnmower is so heavy it took me with it when I tried!) but he said he isn't doing it just now. I really thought he would have, he brings his own equipment, we never have to have any contact with him at all, and we can pay him by bank transfer.

TARSCOUT · 04/04/2020 12:15

Yes for reasons everyone else said. @tooth maybe your gardener is SI or something?

ThusSpoke · 04/04/2020 12:16

Our gardener was here on Wednesday. It’s fine.
