Celebrities dying their hair?

Am I being unreasonable to think that celebrities (yes you Holly, Davina,Ferne) are actually REALLY using home colouring kits? Hmmm

YABU! Home kits are brilliant, why wouldn’t they use them

portocristo · 03/04/2020 10:38

I just think that normally they would be spending hundreds of pounds in a salon and not going thru the faff themselves

OP posts:
inflam · 03/04/2020 10:44

Have they said they are?

inflam · 03/04/2020 10:45

Oh sorry I totally misread the post. No of course they don't. They are paid to advertise.

Mulanlin · 03/04/2020 10:45

Yeah but these aren’t normal times and they can’t just go to a salon

Mulanlin · 03/04/2020 10:46

Oh is this a virus related post or do you mean that they’re advertising them when they probably don’t use them? Grin

inflam · 03/04/2020 10:52

I thought it was virus related then read again and thought it was advertising campaign related, now I have read again I really don't know!

portocristo · 03/04/2020 10:55

Yes Mulanin exactly that, the advert where Davina was on a weekend break in a posh country house hotel and she rang her Mum to say she was dying her hair was really irritating, hope she didn't use the white towels LOL

OP posts:
worldweary45 · 03/04/2020 10:55

I thought they had to use them in order to be able to advertise them -but they are professionally applied and they used more than one colour to create a better look

vague recollections of reading it somewhere so maybe completely wrong

ButterfliesandMoths · 03/04/2020 10:55

I don't believe for one moment they're colouring their hair themselves. However, I would like to think they do use the product they're advertising, perhaps they're getting a professional to do it

oldbeforem · 03/04/2020 10:55

I go to the same hairdresser as Holly in sw London. They even advertise she goes there. Of course they don’t dye their hair at home (well maybe at the moment)!

ZaraW · 03/04/2020 10:58

Lol of course they don't dye their hair. Can you imagine Penelope Cruz who used to advertise for Loreal dyeing her hair before filming or an awards ceremony.... never going to happen.

portocristo · 03/04/2020 11:00

Exactly oldbeforem, now they will have to use them, just like the rest of us, wonder how they rate them. Also wondering how they're getting on doing their own cleaning, ironing etc

I think a stylist uses the box dyes on their hair before the advert then quite quickly after their normal hairdresser will adapt, add highlights and tone back to a professional standard

portocristo · 03/04/2020 11:18

Good job Pip Scohfield has stopped dying his !!!

Barkingfuckingdogs · 03/04/2020 11:22

I'd bet good money on them not using DIY kits. They turn you a fetching shade of orange mainly. I reckon there's a roaring underground trade in hairdressers, barbers, beauty therapists, lash extensions etc.....all around the country.

dkl55 · 03/04/2020 11:47

My sister flatshares with someone who works for a celebrity. Her hairstylist has been to her house!!

pazwaz70 · 03/04/2020 12:18

Holly's hair is a horrible shade of blonde,It's yellow! Tbf,it looks like a box dye. It's desperate for a toner on it.
If she pays good money for that colour, well I wouldn't recommend going where she goes then.

FunkyKingston · 03/04/2020 12:25

Yes I'm struggling to see Penelope Cruz in her Beverly hills mansion, old tea towel over her shoulder leaning over the side of her bath trying to juggle one of those shower heads that attach to the bath taps, thr L'Oreal pack and a chipped coffee mug for rinsing off.

why would anyone use a hair kit unless they REALLY have to!

Even the professional ones with slightly better results are a pain in the neck.

inflam · 03/04/2020 12:58

I do. I don't need to. It's a choice.

JustInCaseCakeHappens · 03/04/2020 13:06

each to their own. It's a pain to do, and the results are not multi-toned enough to look remotely nice.
