To ask if & how you're going to celebrate Easter this year?

It feels so different to a regular Easter weekend where you so look forward to and plan for those two days off!

Are you going to do anything special with your household e.g. nice meal, give Easter eggs, egg hunts for DC etc?

Trying to think of ways to make it still feel like a special moment in the year.

I will not be working, will have a long lie in followed watching my teen consume an Easter egg.
That will be enough excitement for one day.

livingthegoodlife · 02/04/2020 12:56

I have a ham in the freezer that I'll cook as a special meal. The Easter bunny will hide Easter eggs in the garden. We'll probably watch an Easter themed film.

We won't be doing all the local Easter egg trails & hunts. We won't be visiting family.

Hopefully it won't be too different to our usual Easter!

LaurieFairyCake · 02/04/2020 12:57

I bought 75 eggs for our Church egg hunt Shock

I'm going to get really fucking fat...

Stacey21x · 02/04/2020 12:58

We do an egg hunt in the house and garden. We’ll have a roast chicken as that’s what I have in the freezer 👀

NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite · 02/04/2020 13:00

Roast turkey dinner and I'll, no doubt, scoff an Easter egg and hopefully watch a movie.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 02/04/2020 13:00

We don't normally have a special Easter meal anyway. We do do an egg hunt around the house though and I bought one of those boxes with lots of smaller eggs ages ago, along with a bigger one for all 4 of us. I haven't eaten them either so we can still do that as normal as well!

PhantomErik · 02/04/2020 13:06

We're having a 'Christmas' style Easter meal in that we'll have a roast & have bought some Easter crackers (to pull) from Aldi.

I'm thinking about wrapping a few gifts (things I had already bought towards Christmas, stocking fillers etc)

Got loads of small chocolates & sweets to do a hunt.

Pinksaffire · 02/04/2020 13:07

Easter is as big a deal in our family as Christmas.
The whole weekend is spent with family and friends with an all day party on Good Friday to walks in the country on Saturday and a big family meal on Easter Sunday.
This will be the first year this hasn’t happened for my children and they are upset.
I want to try and make this year special for them.
I plan on having a garden day on good Friday with lots of Prosecco (me & hubby) garden games and hot cross buns.
Saturday will be painting salt dough and other Easter crafts and Easter Sunday will be an egg hunt in the garden, a roast dinner, board games and then a film eating lots of chocolate.
Once this is over and life is back to normal we plan on having a big family party to celebrate all of the birthdays and other occasions we will have missed.

MulticolourMophead · 02/04/2020 13:10

I'm not sure what we'll do yet.

Even though DC are mid to late teens, they still find it amusing to do the local National Trust egg trail, and I was planning a meal out as well.

Obviously, we can't do that now. but I'll shop before then and get in stuff to make a nice meal.

InDubiousBattle · 02/04/2020 13:11

We have quite a lot planned really. I bought lots of Easter themed craft things so we'll do them on the Friday and Saturday then have a hunt in the garden, make chocolate things and have a nice meal in the Sunday. My dc are 4 and 6 and we're going to carry on with our little routine until good Friday but I do want the weekend to feel special.

MovingBriskyOn · 02/04/2020 13:14

That made me laugh, @LaurieFairyCake

Bluewavescrashing · 02/04/2020 13:17

We have eggs in the fridge as I had a box from the farm shop delivered. So, eggs for breakfast.

Easter bunting will go up- we made it last year.

I have 4 medium size chocolate eggs hidden away, bought ages ago. Will probably do an egg hunt with those, treasure hunt style with clues around the house.

Gazelda · 02/04/2020 13:21

Well do some Easter crafts.

Make and send cards to grandparents.

Do some Easter baking.
I've already got Easter eggs, so will give them in the morning.
We always have pancakes on special occasions, so we'll keep that tradition.
It's my birthday on Easter Sunday, so I'm hoping for a treat for lunch. But not holding my breath!

Ilovefoodnotgym · 02/04/2020 13:23

Easter is massive to me and my family. I’m devastated that we can’t be together and it’s only because of my kids that I’ll “celebrate” it this year. I’d rather stay in my pyjamas and watch films and feel sorry for myself. What I’ll actually do is a treasure hunt and a small version of Easter lunch with a load of arty bits made in the week. My extended family have agreed we’ll celebrate it again together once this is over ☹️

Littleshortcake · 02/04/2020 13:24

I will send Easter cards to family. Decorate the house (I have nice bunting and easter wooden decoration and wreath and little eggs to make an Easter tree)

Will cook a turkey and stuffing. Easter hunt around the garden. Daffodils. Yes looking forward to it. Lidl have lovely eggs at the moment and decorative kits. Nice opportunity to have a bit of fun in these glum times.

fairynick · 02/04/2020 13:25

It’s my birthday! Hopefully a barbecue at some point over the weekend if the weather is nice Smile

Aposterhasnoname · 02/04/2020 13:28

It’s tough one. Trying to decide between the dining room and the conservatory, although DH suggested the bedroom Hmm

Probably end up in the lounge as usual though.

Bluewavescrashing · 02/04/2020 13:28

Roast chicken for dinner.

ReceptionTA · 02/04/2020 13:29

I will be entertaining key worker children. I think there may only two children in though Grin DH started to grumble that I would be working, so I asked him if he had plans to go somewhere Hmm

It will be odd not going to mass on Easter Sunday.

JennysTailor · 02/04/2020 13:32

I'm usually at work bank holidays and weekends so I suppose at least it will be nice to be at home to enjoy a nice meal together and do an egg hunt for the kids.

TimeAintNothing · 02/04/2020 13:32

I've been crocheting Easter egg bunting, while the DC are in bed on the Saturday night I'm going to get the Christmas tree down from the loft and decorate it with the bunting. I wouldn't usually have a tree for Easter but I figure it'll amuse them and they could use the excitement.

I'm going to get a leg of lamb delivered from the butchers so we can have a roast dinner. I bought eggs for the DC a while ago so will hide them around for them to find along with a small toy each.

Fluffybutter · 02/04/2020 13:32

Lamb ,chocolate and booze . Pretty much sums up our Easter

EmpressSuiko · 02/04/2020 13:33

I’m not religious but the kids look forward to an Easter egg hunt in the garden every year so we’ll be doing that and will most probably watch a movie together, otherwise it’s just a normal day for us.

YerAWizardHarry · 02/04/2020 13:36

I find it so hard to wrap my head around the big deal surrounding Easter, it's just not a thing where I live! Kids have chocolate eggs and maybe paint and roll hard boiled eggs but there are no special meals or parties or new clothes involved at all.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 02/04/2020 13:37

Well, I won't be matching @LaurieFairyCake with 75 eggs, but I will definitely force myself to eat some chocolate.

LaurieFairyCake - can you not identify families of congregation with children and sell/give the eggs? Or contact local school to see if they have vulnerable or needy children that they are in touch with & could distribute (74 eggs) to?

I appreciate it might have been intended as a fundraiser, but they won't keep forever.
Just thinking of your diet Grin
