To ask if & how you're going to celebrate Easter this year?

It feels so different to a regular Easter weekend where you so look forward to and plan for those two days off!

Are you going to do anything special with your household e.g. nice meal, give Easter eggs, egg hunts for DC etc?

Trying to think of ways to make it still feel like a special moment in the year.

Its going to be a great Easter weekend. We are going Thursaday with the ATVs to fix some trails and camp and canoe while gone. We will fix Easter dinner over the fire and have some great family time. Its going to be great

Bornfreebutincovidchains · 06/04/2020 15:55

Pink saffire that sounds wonderful.

I going to put Easter Decs up soon.

Do an egg hunt. I've got dc something small gifts and 2 easter eggs each. I usually give youngest a new dress up dress, older books etc. I've spent a bit more on lego creator this year as well.

I may try the shops for the first time to get lamb....

ColourMyDreams · 06/04/2020 15:56

I will be at work. ☹️

OneForMeToo · 06/04/2020 16:06

We shall be doing a hunt in the house, bunting will go up, lamb for dinner etc I made sure I purchased slot of eggs in March before the lock down just in case.

Terralee · 06/04/2020 16:20

I asked for Easter Sunday & Monday off work as it's my mums 71st birthday.
Well, as I work frontline nhs I can't see her now.
I will have to get my sister to drop off her presents & Easter egg outside.
I can FaceTime her but it's not the same, :(

HelenaJustina · 06/04/2020 16:26

Easter for us is mostly about Church and family. I’m going to miss the Triduum Masses so much. Watching them on Facebook live just isn’t the same.
Then roast for lunch and chocolate consumption.

Gatehouse77 · 06/04/2020 16:27

We’ll do an egg hunt for the kids (20, 19 and 17!) and we’re having a roast lamb lunch.

On the Monday we’re doing a bake off muffin/cupcake challenge. Prizes are the SUTC apron and tea towels!

PorpentinaScamander · 06/04/2020 16:29

Other than church being virtual it will be the same as always. But I never really 'do' anything for Easter. Except buy reduced Easter eggs when it's all over Grin

5foot5 · 06/04/2020 16:32

If the weather is nice we might have a BBQ in the garden (just us obviously!) and play some garden games. We have giant Jenga and boules.

JorisBonson · 06/04/2020 18:19

DP and I are going to eat chocolate and roast lamb and drink various martinis til we need to go to bed.

Can't wait!

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 06/04/2020 18:21

I found an M&S Turkey Joint which I bought for LAST Easter and never ate so we will be having that. Hope it's OK after being in the freezer for a year.

Boulshired · 06/04/2020 18:38

Local catering firm is offering delivered afternoon tea, so have ordered that and accompanied with left over Christmas champagne.

ChippyMinton · 06/04/2020 18:44

Hot cross buns on Good Friday
Roast lamb and an Easter egg for each DC on Sunday.

I just strung some solar lights on a tree in the back garden and jokingly said to the DC that we could decorate it as an Easter tree - any ideas?

mumtomaxwell · 06/04/2020 19:01

Have got some eggs for a hunt... but the weirdest thing will be not going to church. Easter is the whole point of Christianity and I love going to the early morning service.

Some of the people who run the children’s activities at church have dropped off Easter craft sets on our doorstep today so we’ll do those as well.

Church from the comfort of the sofa is quite good really - better than a rock hard pew in a drafty building!!

captainjacksparrow · 06/04/2020 19:12

Nothing sadly and hoping kids don’t notice. I’m in isolation for 12 weeks and haven’t been able to get any Easter eggs.
Dad won’t mind but ds will be devastated Sad

captainjacksparrow · 06/04/2020 19:13

Dd not dad!

MigginsMrs · 06/04/2020 19:13

Church via Facebook live, Easter eggs, nice dinner

MigginsMrs · 06/04/2020 19:14

Aw no @captainjacksparrow is there no one who could pick one up when they are doing their shop and pop it on your step?

TheWordmeister · 06/04/2020 19:19

No different to any other Easter Sunday.

Easter eggs, nice lunch.

Pipandmum · 06/04/2020 19:21

I'm looking forward to it as I gave up alcohol for Lent! My kids are teens but my daughter still likes an Easter egg hunt. She doesn't like chocolate so I've got some plastic eggs and they will be filled with gummy sweets or little chickies. A couple big eggs for my son.
We normally have lamb - I must remember to call the local butcher to order some.
Very sad churches are not open - it's the biggest holiday in the Christian calendar. I can do the prayers at home I guess!

captainjacksparrow · 06/04/2020 19:26

Sadly not @MigginsMrs, due to work we never really had time to socialise with the community. Not on Facebook or anything and knowing the area as I do someone will lecture me as to how “not essential” it is. I agree to some extent but when you’re 7, a visit from the Easter bunny does feel essential.

Spacerader · 06/04/2020 19:33

It won't be a whole lot different, we have the easter egg hunt and lamb dinner.

Obviously we cabt visit family to exchange eggs, but we have agreed to give the one we have bought to our own children and tell them it's off aunty so and so or uncle what's his name. So they children still get their eggs.

malificent7 · 06/04/2020 19:37

Im doing an egg hunt and making a bonnet.

IdleLiz · 06/04/2020 19:37

I'm looking for ideas to fill the 4 day long weekend.

Only me, DH and adult DD.
Everything I have googled comes up with craft/cooking for kids.

Anybody doing anything different to fill in the time?

Hopeisnotastrategy · 06/04/2020 19:41

Under tight lockdown in Spain here.

I am planning on hanging little (bizarre) gifts on my neighbours fences, some Christmas chocolate I picked up in the new year, a bottle of alcohol they like that you can’t normally get here but I ordered from Amazon etc.

I am ridiculously looking forward to it! 😁😁😁
