*2000 of 500,000 NHS staff tested.
*Germany performing nearly TEN TIMES the number of tests as the UK. despite the WHO saying for weeks and weeks that they key is to “test test test”
*Continuing shortages of basic PPE for health workers (who are being threatened if they speak out)
*Thousands of people still cramming on to public transport, with not one metre let alone 2 metre distance.
*The Government failing to sign up to the EU ventilator scheme.
*Being one of the last Western countries to close schools and implement any kind of lockdown.

I know it’s tough for everyone but this is a level of criminal negligence from the British government. Absolutely shocking.

ooh @Blossomad
70% of users on MN agree, was this a scientific controlled study? If it were true what representation of the general public is MN, now let me guess, because thats all we can do, very very little. What we can do is make a very wide sweep of the politics of many many MN. Now then where were we, oh yes there is something important going on, whoever is in charge

Blossomad · 02/04/2020 11:28

This is what is known as “chilling” the debate. Attack anyone who points out the reality.

koshkatt · 02/04/2020 11:28

Also they are not clever enough to cover their tracks

You an IT expert as well as a conspiracy theorist Blossom?

KenDodd · 02/04/2020 11:28

It's the lies that get me. The absolutely bear faces lies that they tell. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, lying had served them very well and got them to where they are today.

Oh and the cronyism, giving contracts to big Tory donors while ignoring others that can deliver faster.

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 02/04/2020 11:28

@Disquieted1
Yep its a MN pastime

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 02/04/2020 11:29

@KenDodd
Sigh, bear faced, bare faced its all the same bollocks

koshkatt · 02/04/2020 11:30

Sorry but this did make me smile! It's a lovely image!

bear faces lies Smile

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 02/04/2020 11:30

Thousands of people still cramming on to public transport, with not one metre let alone 2 metre distance.

You will find that's on TFL and they are separate from the central government. Well, in London at least,

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 02/04/2020 11:30

@Blossomad
This is whats called pointing out rubbish

koshkatt · 02/04/2020 11:31

Isn't the Labour mayor at fault for what is happning with TFL at the moment? People are crying out for more trains.

KenDodd · 02/04/2020 11:31

I can forgive the floundering, this is an unprecedented crisis and all over countries are struggling to know what's best to do. I can't forgive the lying or cronyism though.

Cam77 · 02/04/2020 11:33

@koshkatt
“Too obsessed with identity politics and pronouns to run a country in crisis.”
Literally the only person I’ve heard mention identity politics the past few months is you. Deflect deflect deflect. A bit like the government (if you would be so kind to also add on a pile of flimsy excuses and lies)

Blame the Mayor of London for cutting Tube services. Where's the drive to bring back retired drivers / previous drivers so service can be kept up despite the sickness rate? The Mayor and TfL have some serious questions to answer.

LellyMcKelly · 02/04/2020 11:33

‘Being better than Corbyn’ is the fucking worst ‘praise’ you can give someone. We all know Corbyn would have been shite. It doesn’t mean that Johnson is any good. Johnson is also shite.He is objectively shite. Saying ‘well at least he is better than Corbyn’ does not, in any way, make him not shite.

SudokuQueen · 02/04/2020 11:33

I put yabu because it was obvious they wouldn't handle this well. They are politicians. They care only about their bank accounts. They don't care about us.

Blossomad · 02/04/2020 11:34

Why would you ask if it’s a scientific study? It’s an opinion poll. YOU Are in the minority in your opinion.

Smorgasbored0000 · 02/04/2020 11:34

If you’re going to slag off the government I assume you won’t be one of the thousands of furloughed workers accepting cash from them every month? Look at the US. Yes, the testing situation is bad, but the UK general public is in a much better position than our American friends.

koshkatt · 02/04/2020 11:35

Cam I am hardly ever on here as I am usually at work!
So I have no idea what you are talking about.

However I think that if you listen to Dawn Butler, Corbyn, RLB and Lisa Nandy (and so many more) you will see that this is their one big issue right now - which is why I am so very glad that they are not in charge.

Standrewsschool · 02/04/2020 11:35

Australia

Australia has taken measures a lot later than the UK.

If you look at the article above, you’d be surprised what what they still permit.

Eg. Families and romantic partners still visiting each other, buying takeaway coffee with a friend etc

Blossomad · 02/04/2020 11:36

The talking points are bizarrely monotonous. Repetitive.

koshkatt · 02/04/2020 11:37

The Mayor and TfL have some serious questions to answer

They really do. I hope that they are held to account when this dies down.

SudokuQueen · 02/04/2020 11:37

I can forgive the floundering, this is an unprecedented crisis and all over countries are struggling to know what's best to do.

I can't. That's WHY you have disaster plans. To have a plan in this kind of situation. It's part of their jobs to either have that written up or have someone else doing it.

Yeah it might not happen but you still have them in place. So that people know what to do in a crisis, not run around like headless chickens.

Blossomad · 02/04/2020 11:37

I’m not a conspiracy theorist. Believing that Boris is incompetent is not a conspiracy?

VashtaNerada · 02/04/2020 11:38

Grin at the people thinking Corbyn would have been worse when his fundamental principles were supporting the NHS and other key workers. If we’d voted him in the country would have had far more resilience for something like this. What we’re witnessing are the effects of a conservative government in times of crisis - ordinary working people either on the frontline putting themselves at risk or out of work and struggling with money.

Blossomad · 02/04/2020 11:39

This govt ran a pandemic simulation in 2016, DAVOS did one in 2019, WHO have been advising govts over pandemic prep since 2005. To have doctors working with inadequate PPE at this point is negligent.
