Reflux baby-help?

Posting here for traffic, sorry!!

DS is 12 weeks. He's suffered from bad silent reflux since he was born. We tried all the natural remedies such as sitting up right after a feed, small regular feeds etc. Some slightly helped but not much. Moved onto baby gaviscon which helped but think he became immune as it stopped working.

We're now on aptamil anti-reflux which, again, has worked for a while but now seems to have stopped. He's not sleeping from the pain:( and no sleep is making us all grumpy which isn't ideal in quarantine. Any mammas got any advice please? Or any tips and tricks that helped you and your LO?

Try some Colief (from pharmacy and supermarkets and prescription too). Worked wonders on my DD, who was just the same as you describe. Worked straight away, she was like a different child. I used it in every milk feed she had from 2 weeks to a year old. Never been a problem since I started her on it. Worth a shot. Best of luck.

my dds had severe reflux and s combination of Zantac and specialised formulas helped.

He needs better meds - the babies I know who has it needed ranatadine before any improvements.

Put the head end of his cot/moses basket on a couple of books so that the cot is at a slight angle and his head is slightly higher than his tummy rather than level. This will help stop the acid running up to his throat/mouth.

Both my DC needed Omeprazole before we saw any proper improvement. Does he have any other symptoms, loose stools, eczema, nappy rash? Have you considered it may be caused by Dairy allergy or intolerance?

If you are aware of his weight, the dosage changes with gaviscon after they reach 10lb so it may be he needs a different dose. My 12 week old has only just gone past 10lb and has bad reflux so hoping the change will help.

She is also on omeprazole prescribed by the dr. This helps massively! I did originally ask for ranitidine as it worked wonders with my eldest but its currently off the market.

If he is still small enough for a moses basket you can put some books under the stand at the head end to tilt the basket up.

Ds has awful reflux until he was about 13 months old. We bought wedges for his Moses basket, cot, pram etc, they helped a little when he slept. Also not ideal but we had to sleep him on his side with a blanket rolled up next to him to stop him falling onto his tummy, to prevent him choking in his sleep. He was initially breastfed and then we moved on to aptamil anti reflux too and that also helped. Baby gaviscon did nothing at all for him. Thankfully he grew out of it at about 13 months.
