Calling all Healthcare Assistants

Hi guys
First let me apologise this is not really an AIBU post...
So I applied for HCA at my general hospital before all this covid-19 pandemic.
I did an interview and received an offer for the position today.

I spoke to my friends that are HCAs and scared me a bit, saying the work load is very heavy right now, it’s hectic and the pressure is on for HCAs and they’re not treated well by the NHS.

Now a bit of background, I did domicilary care for 2 years. That’s all the experience I have, so after the conversations I had with my friends I feel worried now as although I’ve researched the position before I applied I feel like research don’t tell you all.

If you’re a healthcare assistant how’s it going for you right now? Plus they have appointed me on the ‘general medicine ward’ for the inpatient specialties.
Anyone doing similar or working for that ward? How’s it like? & How is your job affected with Covid-19?

I hope I’ve been clear,
Thanks in advance, I’d appreciate all advice given
X

Hi I'm not a health care assistant but I can tell you that our ward is very light at the moment. Today we had 8 patients and 3 HCAs and 2 trained. The HCAs spent a lot of time doing jigsaws and playing dominoes with the patients. But we're not a covid ward
