i am having a large joint birthday party for my dss on sunday.i sent out invites before the summer holidays as the party is fancy dress and i didn't want to spring it on anyone.i included my phone number on the invite and have followed up with a large notice in each of my dss class (in plain view)to remind parents.out of 50 children invited i have had replies off 7! i don't have time to chase everyone up so or to expect everyone to come but i have to prepare food etc and do not have a clue how many children are coming

sorry if this is long and typed one handed due to feeding dd

hilarious. totally forgot to add another thing that happened at the party - one kid turned up, who was invited but hadn;t replied, his mum left him after about 2 mins, even tho he didn't know us at all, I'd never even seen him! He began to scream and sob. He wouldn't talk to me, or my dh, or any of the other mums, he just sobbed and thrashed. his mum came back at 4 and had a minor go at me for not looking after him properly. I smiled beautifically and thought how horrible it would be for dd if her birthday cake ended up squashed all over another mum's face.

katybump · 11/09/2007 21:50

the children all came out with the invites in their hands as i made sure dss gave the invites out personally at the end of the school day as the invite in the pocket thing as also happened to me

hi katybump, i know exactly how u feel as i had the same happen to me. out of 25 invites i only got 10 replys within the rsvp time. i had to chase everyone up about it. i never did it again!

Flibbertyjibbet · 11/09/2007 21:57

thats very tempting...

My two are only 2 and 1 so probably a bit young and get trampled to death by 50 school age boys - oh sorry SEVEN guests hee hee.

But are you south manchester or north as south via the m60 and a666 turns a quick party into a bloody long trip out...

katybump · 11/09/2007 21:58

Dear Katybump.
Thankyou so much for your very kind invitation for Sunday.
Sadly we will be unable to attend as DP thinks that I am arranging a meet up with an internet wierdo for his innocent sons.

Seriously, he takes them for an outdoorsy trip each sunday and tells me he has the Wild Boar Farm at chipping in mind for us this weekend.

katybump · 11/09/2007 22:03

how about i send you some cake and a party bag pcsmum? i'm going to have loads spare x

Flibbertyjibbet · 11/09/2007 22:05

He's just gone out to make a brew so can't read over my shoulder at the mo, I'll work on him.
I like a bit of excitement, if you are not offended at the internet weirdo comment which I now regret putting!!!
Email the details to legoates @ aol . com and I'll try and sort out some fancy dress. Can dump dp at his sisters in Wythenshawe for the duration.

PSCMUM · 11/09/2007 22:05

this would be excellent. I have enjoyed the contents of many a spare party bag.

katybump · 11/09/2007 22:06

What a lovely thread this is after some of the very contentious threads that I've seen the past few days.

katybump · 11/09/2007 22:10

not offended at all i thought it was great never been called an internet weirdo before dh is wetting himself.we are not that far from wythenshawe (stockport) so you really could come . ooh i'm excited now never met a real life mumsnetter before

lololola · 11/09/2007 22:11

DS1 is getting a bit obsessive at the mo about choosing his own clothes and refused fancy dress (it was a horrible morning) for nursery when they were doing the barnardos toddle.
Is it compulsory?
Think I've got a tigger outfit for DS2 somewhere...

Flibbertyjibbet · 11/09/2007 22:15

And after you've met us, on Monday you'll be changing your mumsnet nickname to hide from me...
I will pmsl if all the invitees turn up PLUS any mumsnetters north of watford....

katybump · 11/09/2007 22:15

yep lolola not a problem the more the merrier might even ask the dj for some sing along songs

OP posts:
katybump · 11/09/2007 22:17

not compulsory at all i just wanted an excuse to dress up my dd as a princess so a big fancy dress party was my perfect cover

Excellent I was only thinking myself about starting this thread tonight. We had party for dd2 at the weekend. Invited 10 of her nursery "friends" only had 5 confirmations the rest didnt bother saying anything!! I wouldnt mind but I handed one of the invites to a mum personally!!!!!!!!
Are good manors that difficult really?
I hope you have a great party it sounds like it will be fun.

lololola · 11/09/2007 22:21
