My neighbours window annoys me (lighthearted)

ShiveringCoyote · 31/03/2020 10:47

I am being unreasonable but everytime I drive in it irritates me.
Our houses are side by side, no front gardens and parking spaces outside. My designated space is in front of their bay window.
Its filled with boxes and a bedside locker and filled black bags. They keep their curtains closed and there are stains all over the them.

What irks everyone else about their neighbours ?

That my neighbour has several animals and she doesnt clean up after them often enough, the smell is awful. If its not cat litter I can smell its dog shit Envy

saturdaynightgin · 31/03/2020 10:55

My retired neighbours, who have a double garage across the road from our houses, insist on taking up 3 or 4 parking spaces with their two cars, by moving them out of the garage as soon as the rest of us have gone to work in the morning, and leaving them there until 8/9pm at night when they put them back in the garage Angry

PeterPanGoesWrong · 31/03/2020 11:28

Our over the road neighbour leaves for work at 7.05 am in normal conditions.
He starts his incredibly loud motorbike, then wheels it out of the garage, then parks the bike on the drive, then locks the garage, then puts his garage keys away, then puts on his helmet and gloves, then gives his engine a few extra revs, just in case anyone is still asleep, then pulls away from his home to the sound of his 4 or 5 yapping dogs barking.

The dogs do not stop barking all day.

My work means I get home around midnight, I’d to sleep a bit longer, but that will never happen whilst barking bike boy lives opposite.

@ShiveringCoyote - my neighbours windows annoy me too!

They don't have blinds/net curtains/window coverings in any other window but their front room they have a too short, not wide enough piece of stained net curtain. It annoys me every single time I see it.

Seventyone72seventy3 · 31/03/2020 15:28

Two years ago we had high winds and my neighbours have a sort of cupboard on their balcony that got blown sideways and squashed their blinds (yes, they have blinds on the outside, on the balcony!) I have since seen them a lot on the balcony but the cupboard is still leaning over, squashing the blinds - why??? It would take 2 seconds to prop it back up straight.

RiftGibbon · 31/03/2020 15:33

Not a neighbour but a local person who has US flag with a picture of Trump on it, flying from their balcony.
We are not in the US.

Youvegotafriendinme · 31/03/2020 15:44

One side picks up after her dog in the garden then leaves all the little plastic bags of poo on the garden table for weeks absolutely stinks in the summer. I’ve recently noticed she brings the bags of poo back from dog wake and leaves them on the floor by the bins.

The other side recently did their whole house up and absolutely everything is dark grey, including the decking out the back. Feel like I’m living next to a bloody battleship. Pissing me off every time I come home or look out the back windows!

namechangetheworld · 31/03/2020 15:52

Not the same thing at all but my (actually lovely) next door neighbour has a mirror on her garden fence which has been wonky for SIX MONTHS. I'm offended my it every time I open my blinds. It would literally take two seconds to straighten it. Her back gate it always unlocked and I've seriously considered going in an straightening it myself on several occasions Blush

Wonkydonkey44 · 31/03/2020 16:34

My neighbour works unsociable hours . For some reason both him and his wife think you have to start the car and then leave it running for 5 plus minutes . Hers is a diesel and sounds like a bloody tractor , he’s some sort of ageing boy racer so also feels the need to rev the engine on and on and on as he’s either reversing out of his drive or pulling into his drive . They also have an open slated fence which means I can see into their back garden whilst sat on my lounge , why would you want people looking into your back garden?

QuestionableMouse · 31/03/2020 16:41

My neighbour's house hasn't been decorated in 20 years or more.

I know this for a fact because my my auntie used to own my house and I had a friend living in the house next door.

The wallpaper is exactly the same one that's been on since I was 16, they have no carpet down and the whole house stinks because they never have a window open. They have the money to do it (posh car, fancy holidays) but for whatever reason, its just not important to them.

TheReluctantCountess · 31/03/2020 16:45

My neighbour has black bin bags tapped to every window, so the windows are never opened. It must be gross, and dark, in there.

WhyIsIt · 31/03/2020 16:49

My neighbours never seem to throw anything away. Their house is the worst looking in the street. They are obviously into collecting things and don’t close any curtains so if you walk past all you can see are boxes upon boxes and bags all in the windows. For some reason the thing that bothers me the most is that they have tyres in their garden and their 9 year old boy has boxes of stuff on his windowsill and they are all stored in faded old boxes of nappies. What 9 year old boy would want old nappy boxes in his bedroom window for the world to see

Subeccoo · 31/03/2020 17:43

I don't like our next door neighbours, we tried to be friends a long time ago but they're just really weird.
I was doing joe wicks the other morning (ykwim) with my back doors open (ykwim) and the husband had his morning cigarette, which wafted into my living room so I had to shut the doors. My irrationality for that is a couple of times a week, with a glass of wine, I have a cig in the garden myself. I cat bear other people's though and certainly not in the morning when I've just got up!! A bit hypocritical but also irational.
HOWEVER he also smokes weed, probably all year round but we only really notice in the summer and then I get the rage big time. We have to keep the doors shut then and it's so unfair.
I have two dogs. One of them barks at passers by (there aren't many where we live) and I know it upsets next door. Idgaf. I am willing to attempt to stop him when ndn gives up the marijuana. He's declined so far.

I was going to say the same with black bags taped to windows, it's a sign of growing Shock

FrankIncensed · 31/03/2020 18:05

Our neighbours have really dirty net curtains. The window cleaner regularly cleans their windows which is pointless as they must not be able to see out of them anyway.

I know our lack of living room blinds annoyed our neighbour as he mentioned it every time he saw me. For some reason we forgot to measure that window on a second viewing and didn’t feel like we could ask again just for the living room window so we had to do without for a month whilst they were on order (previous owners told us they were taking all the curtains).

TheReluctantCountess · 31/03/2020 18:22

@HugoSpritz I did wonder that, but there’s no other sign. I think he just has mental health issues.

labazsisgoingmad · 31/03/2020 18:51

i just hate seeing nets in windows that are ill fitting like people who have those cafe curtains and instead of putting them on the lower part of the window stick them on the top bit so the lower is exposed!

sagging curtains annoy me too just cut the flamin stretchy wire and it will fit better
holey nets or worse still filthy net curtains years ago we went to see a place bed and breakfast to consider stopping for a short break seeing the curtains which were filthy the fag butts all over the steps and the smashed front door glass held together with brown tape i decided to go somewhere else!
i can never understand people who keep curtains shut all the time must be gloomy cost them a fortune having lights on all the time

AdoptedBumpkin · 31/03/2020 18:59

I do have one neighbour who lets his grass grow really long, and also leaves gardening utensils out, presumably assuming that nobody would steal them around here.

avrilpoissons · 31/03/2020 19:06

That the light on their landing is like a flood light and they leave it on all night - I can read my book by it if I want to as it shines through into my bedroom when the door is open.

Travis1 · 31/03/2020 19:20

Their son who stands in the back garden smoking weed and coughing like he’s hawking up a lung 🤢

Thatbloodybear · 31/03/2020 19:30

My NDN is an older gent, retired. Every morning he pulls his car off his drive and parks it on the street. Some days he goes out, others he doesn't. At night he puts the car back into the drive. WHY? It irritates the bejesus out of me, and it's made me have a completely irrational dislike for him. I'm a nob I know Blush

EmeraldShamrock · 31/03/2020 19:32

My neighbour's don't pay for their bin collection. They pile black bags, food, cans, bottles, papers to about 6ft in their side entrance before dumping. They even have an old scruffy toilet in the garden. It is a home to about 10 EE men no intention of ever tidying I reported them as I saw a rat. white lie it is manky again.
My NDN is 87 she's very fitting fit and very cheeky, she says she is just being honest. 😳

pleasestoprainingplease · 31/03/2020 19:34

Oh I hope we don't annoy our neighbours. We live in the worst house on the street. It's rented and we have to ask permission for everything, but the driveway looks awful. Lots of crazy plants etc that the people who own it planted. It's so messy & uninviting.

My back garden was a huge project to get tidy & safe and it's taken us a year to get to a point where we're not embarrassed by it anymore If people come over.

The inside of my house is very cleanly & airy but again not been decorated in years because we can't take off the textured wallpaper etc. However we re-painted everything we could.

Oh how one day my house will look so beautiful and not annoy anyone driving past it!
