To think this is an odd approach to over 70s?

Dad over 70, heart condition, been asked if needed help in vulnerable group by council welfare person...

my sibling tells me, first well the shop is close by so he should be Ok, then, they think he will be ok unless he develops symptoms in which case we can drop shopping off for him if necessary

I don't think that's right. They live closer though

Thinking I might just put him on the list anyway. Any thoughts?

i don't understand what they mean, letting him get it and then drop off food? confused and how does distance to the shop matter?

Put him on the list. If it turns out he doesn't need help and you and your family can manage shopping etc then good but at least he is on the list if needed.

I am not close, in fact hundreds of miles away so yes think I will pout him on the list. Kind of surprised at my siblings attitude.

I did get him an online shop in a couple of weeks ago but can't get any delivery slots now. He has carers come in and they will need stuff to cook etc

I tried putting 81 yr old DM on list
She lives alone and has Alzheimer’s
Unfortunately she doesn’t qualify

Sorry to hear that, maybe this one has a different criteria as in Scotland, not sure. We'll see. My dad has social services support so might be to do with that perhaps.

@orangeblossom what about a company delivering freezer ready meals. there is one near me doing 6 meals for 30 pounds. My first batch doesn't arrive until Tuesday so can't guarantee quality but they look good. We are in Edinburgh if you are near there.

Is it Parsleybox? Might be an idea. Thanks, thought they might be overwhelmed. He does have a catalogue
