Posting here for traffic.

I'm ok the phone to 111 but been an hour so far and still waiting just wanted to get some opinions.

Last Sunday my 4 year old got diagnosed with tonsillitis over the phone (GP hub) got given antibiotics which he's been on for 8 days and seemed to be getting better however his temperature has shot back up in the last 24 hours and is 39.5 without paracetamol, 38.1 when he has paracetamol.
He woke up last night vomiting and with a headache, had been complaining of a headache all day, neither paracetamol or nurofen for kids seems to be working. He is saying his eyes hurt and that he is cold but he is very got to touch.
My question is do you think I should give up on 111 and just take him to a&e or would that be a massive over reaction on my part?

Please NEVER tell someone not to go to A&E.

Especially with a child. Ffs

Anyway OP I hope he's ok.

My baby was like this all last week it was horrific but wouldn't drink. We went to a+e and were admitted and treated for presumed sepsis. Hope you're both ok x

People are leaping to Coronavirus as a diagnosis for everything at the moment and I fear it’s making people delay seeking help for symptoms that would always normally be investigated urgently.

These symptoms would ordinarily point to thinks like sepsis or meningitis.

I really hope everything is ok, OP. Let us know.

CottonSock · 31/03/2020 10:28

I also read the post saying don't delay taking sick kids to a&e. I hope he's ok.

Honesty OP first thing my mind jumped to was Meningitis. As a PP said the light sensitivity rings warning bells. Any sign of a rash? Neck ache?

Holdencaulfieldshomeboy · 31/03/2020 20:32

Been checking back constantly today in hopes of an update from OP. Thinking of you and your boy.

TurquoiseDress · 31/03/2020 20:35

Take him to A&E

Don't waste any more time trying to get through to 111
