Manager has got symptoms, developed over the weekend.

We work in a small office. Last Tuesday we were all together, on the wednesday I was on my own in the office with her. We are now working from home with one person in the office every day to cover potential drop ins.

I thought if you had been in contact with someone showing symptoms now within the last 7 days you should self isolate for 14 days? Eg I had contact last wednesday when she didnt have symptoms she developed symptoms 3 days later so does that count? I have been told that no it's only if they had symptoms at the time of contact.

How can this be right? Surely once you have symptoms you should self isolate and the whole point is to catch people who you may have been in contact with before you had symptoms?

Am I wrong? Am I misunderstanding this?

Thank you!

That was the original, by current guidance, look at the nhs website. Yes it’s quite confusing

Original *not current guidance

www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-advice/

The NHS advice here seems fairly clear. You self isolate in two circumstances: you have symptoms or if you live with someone with symptoms.

Of course, we should all be staying in as much as possible anyway.

It isn’t if you’re in contact with someone with symptoms - only if you live in the same house.

Ahhh yes thank you for the links I didn't realise that was the case...I could of course have just looked myself so thank you for putting me right!

I think I am just frustrated with my office anyway. Our job is perfectly manageable at home right now and I dont think it is necessary for any of us to have to make that extra journey out. I really miss the office and my colleagues but just want everyone to be safe and well including my family!

Thank you!
