Help supposedly moving house 😢

Probably not posted in the right place but looking for advice!

I paid a deposit last month towards a house and due collecting the keys and paying another month's rent upon collection however due to wages being buggered about and now being left with almost nothing we are unable to pay the month's rent in advance thus leaving us unable to move!

If I were to pull out of the tenancy due to this would I be entitled to the deposit back I'd already paid?

No, that's the point of a deposit; you don't get it back.

Though you could ask, and see if they were sympathetic.
