Need help with copying google files from my old google account to a new google account

Posting here for traffic. And I'm not the best with google drive either.

I need to move a number of folders with my files in them, from one of my google accounts to another of my google accounts.

Is there any easy way to do this?
Thanks.

I'm sure there are more technically proficient people than me around but can you download them, save them as Word documents and upload them to your new account?

LorenzoStDubois · 30/03/2020 04:06

No they need to stay as google files.

Could you share with your new account? You can then transfer ownership to that new account.

You can download and then upload them As per pp above, and then just open them in google drive as as google docs.

Share them with your new account as you would with a colleague

LorenzoStDubois · 30/03/2020 12:23

Ok, yes I have been sharing them with my newer account.

Really dumb question but -
When I close the old account will I lose the files that have been shared to my new account?

You need to make sure that you save them to the drive of the new account - not just viewing them - in which case - no you won’t lose them.

I've always transferred the ownership. Then there isn't a problem if the other account is closed.
