To want to do YouTube but I hate the way I look

I really want to do YouTube, I’d like to have a lifestyle channel where I vlog, my life and my business. But I’ve felt insecure about my teeth and nose for as long as I can remember, and I hoping to have the rhinoplasty surgery and my teeth done next year, a part of me wants to wait until next year when I feel more confident with my looks, and there’s another part of me that thinks I should start NOW. I have this little voice in my head saying there’s so many people on YouTube in different shapes and sizes, and it doesn’t matter. I don’t know what to do. Help! I just feel so insecure 😟

I'm obviously thinking about when all of this is over.

There are lots of people with a sorts of noses and teeth on YouTube.

BUT you do need to brace yourself for all sorts of nasty comments - could be about anything, even things you are have never thought about.

It's the internet. There are some horrible people.

You also need to prepare yourself for being roundly ignored and no one watching or caring about your YouTube videos - this is the realistic outcome for most people who decide to try and become YouTubers.

If your self esteem is very fragile, might be best to give it a miss.

I think it's a very oversaturated platform at the moment.. my worry would be that if your channel wasn't very successful you would attribute that to your looks rather than the fact there are just many many youtubers doing the same type of thing.

If you have insecurity and confidence issues then YouTube is not the right space for you. Do you feel you could let the horrible comments wash over your head or would they make you feel worse? There's plenty of positive comments but also a lot of negative and if you're not mentally or emotionally strong enough to ignore the negativity then it's really not a good idea.
