Even when the supermarkets are fully stocked with all other milks there is no skimmed milk. Have the stopped selling it or have I just missed it each time I shop (every few days)?

I managed to get some fresh skimmed milk in Sainsbury's in London last Thurs. It was actually the only fresh milk left.

If the supply disappears, I will probably do without and just drink black coffee. Semi is too creamy for me.

I feel bad for people who are on restrictive diets for health/medical reasons who are only allowed skimmed milk because of the fat content.

SauvignonBlanche · 29/03/2020 11:41

I got skimmed in Sainsbury’s on Friday

73Sunglasslover · 29/03/2020 11:43

I wonder why they can't reduce the choices to skimmed or whole? Then people who like semi can just mix the two if they want to keep that godawful creamy taste! I wondered whether skimmed is more intensive to make and therefore that's the choice that went first?

PinkiOcelot · 29/03/2020 11:46

I saw it in Sainsburys yesterday. I think. Now I’m doubting myself. I can’t get my 1% anywhere.

dworky · 29/03/2020 11:48

Buy whole milk & water it down. Lots of people do this already. Just remember to use fridge-cold water so as not to warm the temperature of the milk.

Darbs76 · 29/03/2020 11:48

Same, been non on home shopping for weeks

WhateverHappenedToBathPearls · 29/03/2020 11:50

There's virtually no milk where I live, of any kind, including uht and all the non dairy ones Sad

RollaCola84 · 29/03/2020 11:52

@73Sunglasslover judging by the usual layout in supermarkets near me and the fridges in work semi skimmed is most popular. Its wasteful to buy both and mixed when semi can be watered down.

Or as PP said...just save the dish water Wink

zombieapocalypseisnigh · 29/03/2020 11:53

I suspect skimmed is the hardest to process, so sensible to knock that one off for the time being.

TheWernethWife · 29/03/2020 11:54

I use BOB milk, think it good.

HigherFinish · 29/03/2020 11:58

They have massively reduced production of skimmed milk on purpose to produce more semi and whole milk.

Pashazade · 29/03/2020 12:00

DH got four pints in Sainsbury's yesterday, just hoping milk and more don't stop suppling it. I can drink tea black but I won't be a happy bunny.

Coughsyrupsucks · 29/03/2020 12:03

Our local Nisa is almost trying to give it away. You can get 5 2 litre bottles for £5. They over ordered. So that’s probably where yours is!

Oldraver · 29/03/2020 12:04

I have skimmed delivered by the milkman as I don't like creamy milk in tea. I can go without though if they stop delivering it

I think skimmed milk is a bit like marmite - love it or hate it! Watering down semi doesn't make it as nice as skimmed. I guess you're also watering down other components which then changes the taste. My supermarket (usually) has a skimmed section as large as the semi so it might be that they adjust depending on differing local demand.

I will look forward to skimmed and a proper cup of tea when it returns to the shops!

IOnlyWannaBeWithYou · 29/03/2020 12:14

Can’t get it where I live (Lancashire). Having to use semi skimmed - bleugh.

Davros · 29/03/2020 12:17

I was crowing because we'd be able to get milk easily as skimmed is less popular. How wrong I was! Tesco's over a week ago had a fully stocked milk fridge, no skimmed! I managed to get a jumbo bottle of skimmed in M&S last Friday, I'm wondering if I should freeze some of it. We can manage with semi as we mostly use it in tea and occasionally in cereals/porridge. No more crowing for me!

w00dlander · 29/03/2020 12:17

I'm shopping for a friend with my shopping.

4 pints of skimmed came yesterday from Sainsbury's.

Ginfordinner · 29/03/2020 12:26

Another who thinks that adding water to skimmed is the best solution. Although, IMO, skimmed is so watery you might as well drink black coffee anyway.

I don't know anyone who uses skimmed milk, and it is probably the least popular of the three, so I can see why it is low priority.

Sirzy · 29/03/2020 12:29

I managed to get some from my Iceland delivery yesterday thankfully! I am another who is fussy and didn’t like the BOB at all

PositiveVibez · 29/03/2020 12:33

Can you get a delivery off your milkman? I'm sure you could go online to check if there is one in your area. Ours delivers skimmed, eggs, cheese, juice and loads of other stuff.

Deux · 29/03/2020 12:36

I got some in Lidl last night

madcatladyforever · 29/03/2020 12:37

All our local corner shops have it.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 29/03/2020 12:38

I only have skimmed milk, the rest of the family has full fat. I'll have to look in Sainsbury's.
