Just that really

OP posts:
MintyMabel · 29/03/2020 12:05

Not a single frontline NHS worker I know has done that, they're just going about their days very quietly. It's very interesting.

All the ones I know have.

One posted yesterday about how kind a neighbour was to her, but managed to make the bulk of the post about how hard she was working and risking her family and how difficult it was for her and her colleagues.

YgritteSnow · 29/03/2020 12:06

A neighbour posted a photo of about 20 loaves of bread she had baked and delivered to vulnerable people in our village.

Straight in the bin here. Who knows what's on them or what her hygiene practices are?

Bluebell246 · 29/03/2020 12:06

Thanks for this OP. Genuinely thank you. I dont feel as isolated as I did before. You may have helped save my sanity.

Bishybarnybee · 29/03/2020 12:06

"no betty, your a cleaner for the water board"

Great, you can sneer at cleaners and get a dig in at middle aged women's names at the same time. It's always Betty, Karen and Linda who are perceived as being up themselves/entitled/ill informed/stupid because obviously no man or young woman ever does anything annoying or ignorant.

I think all cleaners are putting themselves out there at the moment for very low pay and little respect. As illustrated by your snarky comment.

MasterMargarita · 29/03/2020 12:07

Oh it's annoying af! Seriously, the minute you pat yourself on the back on social media you cancel out anything good you've done. If there was ever the need for eye roll emoji, it's now.

Thighmageddon · 29/03/2020 12:08

The best thing I did was come off Facebook this week. I just couldn't take anymore of the bullying because people said they didn't want to clap at 8pm.

Only SM I'm now using is this because I don't actually know any of you and Insta, The Queen Caroline Hirons is saving me from going doolally.

cantata · 29/03/2020 12:09

I second Bluebell 's comment.

Cleaners are important as are the bin men and sewerage workers, they do jobs lots of us wouldn't even consider and their efforts keep us safe. People really need to show a little respect.

Doobigetta · 29/03/2020 12:11

Yes, I’m finding that distasteful. The current government may be making a bit of a hash of dealing with it, but they didn’t cause it and I’m not sure any other party would have done much better. It’s just tedious and irrelevant to use the whole thing as an excuse for a bit of tory bashing.

Gwenhwyfar · 29/03/2020 12:12

"Yes including #clapforcarers in a country that majority voted a party who don’t want to fund them properly. "

The majority of people did NOT vote for the Tories. Tories just got more votes than any other party and that was in England not all over the UK.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 29/03/2020 12:14

I'd much rather see people doing nice things then seeing the moaning drainers out in force like is all over here lately.
YABU

1forsorrow · 29/03/2020 12:14

Seriously horrific, and if I hear one more ‘comedy’ song played on acoustic guitar about how everyone needs to stay in and wash their hands, I will not be responsible for my actions. Absolutely, I feel much the same as I did as a 10 year old in the 60s when the nuns who taught us decided to take up guitar and sing to us. No, it was horrific, singing to us didn't make up for the beatings we got for nothing.

BlueMoon1103 · 29/03/2020 12:16

Yes I hate it. I hate all the videos of people singing, the stupid posts, the showing off, the competitive isolation etc. just makes those of us who do actually want our one walk a day feel shit even though we’re following guidelines.

Geepipe · 29/03/2020 12:17

Jesus christ so many of you people need to get a life and stop being such hysterical doom mongers. So people want to do nice things it doesnt matter who the fuck they vote for or anything else. As for the lady continuing to work instead of retiring when she is entitled to yes that is rather heroic and absolutely lovely how dare you try and drag a nice act down. Maybe you should try something nice and stop acting like the gestapo and trying to ban people from being nice based on their chosen political party.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 29/03/2020 12:18

No Betty you're a cleaner for the water board
Fk me, I rest my case.
Poisonous on here lately

mindproject · 29/03/2020 12:20

I'm not really on social media much anyway. I do use Facebook, but no more than 5 minutes a day - people annoy me too much - pre and post virus.

I've been totally ignoring the posts about how you shouldn't be doing DIY etc. Some people think that because they've stopped living that everyone else should, they are pissed off that other people aren't as miserable as them.

MadameBee · 29/03/2020 12:22

I have a colleague who got back from the Caribbean in Feb who has posted “the let’s share some positivity” post with a picture of a beach in the Caribbean.

I won’t be going away in May as planned as countless others won’t be either, so actually fuck off 🤣

Chillicheese123 · 29/03/2020 12:24

I got really angry at a post slating a guy ‘taking loads of kids out’ . 160-odd posts saying ‘ive not even opened my front door for 16 days’, ‘my kids won’t be going out they’re playing in the garden 2m apart from each other’ ‘I’ve not been out except to deliver hand baked bread to my elderly neighbours I’m a HERO’

Turns out the family in question is 4 kids plus 2 foster kids with the dad taking them for a kickabout in the middle of a massive EMPTY field across from their house. They don’t have a big enough garden and the foster kids have behavioral issues and have been advised by Social workers involved to still get them fresh air.

People are so fucking sanctimonious.

I don’t think they realize the hospitalizations NOW are from people who were out and about a week or two ago. And I hate to say it but that includes the very elderly people I was dealing with at work who insisted ‘no one would stop them going out’ and continued to until lockdown came into place.

Mammyloveswine · 29/03/2020 12:26

It's the hypocrisy that gets me!

The best one I saw "drove to the beach for some exercise (socially distancing of course) but loads of others were not..."

You like a 30 minute drive from the beach, you have a huge nature walk next to your house!!! Go there instead of fucking driving to the coast with all the morons who just..don't..get it!

Also someone shared some shit about "we are not trapped indoors we are safe indoors".

I fucking hate lockdown and trying to work from home whilst teaching/entertaining two very young children and husband still going out to work as a supposed keyworker... (works in IT but apparently can't work from home!) . I am allowed to think that it's shit and actually my mental health is really suffering. So spare me the virtue signalling.,

God that rant felt good!

Amanduh · 29/03/2020 12:27

Meh, there is a bit, but there always is. I’ve actually found it lovely the locals gathering around to help each other, people offering to do food runs for others, visit elderly people with basics when their family have put out calls for help etc etc. Quite lovely.

Chillicheese123 · 29/03/2020 12:28

Omg and don’t get my started on the hypocrisy of stockpiled shamers - ‘stockpiling is Selfish there is no need for it!’

Then two weeks later it’s ‘I’ve not left my house AT ALL I will not be going to the supermarket I have everything I need and WILL NOT be putting other people at risk!’ Blah blah fucking blah !

So you DID buy a ton of stuff then at once, or what.

Wheresthebeach · 29/03/2020 12:30

Its the fitness ones doing me in. I get that it’s a good idea to do more than sit around but the number of posts about ‘now is the time to get fit and strong’ is driving me nuts. I think the issue is that people have so much time on their hands that they are posting 10 times a day instead of 1.

The mass cooking makes me want to scream

bakedbeanzontoast · 29/03/2020 12:30

I'm pleased to read this thread. Till now I honestly thought I was the only one who felt like this. The hypocrites are out in force for sure.

Tibola · 29/03/2020 12:31

I work for the NHS and I’ve started leaving my lanyard at work and only wearing it there.

I couldn’t stand it anymore Blush
