Just that really

OP posts:
Chillicheese123 · 29/03/2020 22:19

And can I just add - I have family working in ITU and A&E . Apart from the odd meme or whatever they’ve said NOTHING on social media for adulation. I think that speaks volumes about them.

Dumbie · 30/03/2020 07:40

@opticaldelusion ah good. An example of the irritating virtue signalling I was referring to.

Bishybarnybee · 30/03/2020 09:07

Are you one of those people that comments on these peoples statuses saying ‘omg hun you’re an absolute star’. Grin

I am most offended, I have never used hun in my life!

FunkyKingston · 30/03/2020 09:21

Yes. I have two Facebook friends who have very much back office jobs with the NHS not in an area likely to be directly impacted by Coronavirus. One in particular is loving the reflected glory and bigging herself up.

She'll be dining out on this for years: like the pub bores who claimed to have been in the SAS but in reality were store clerks who never got further than Aldershot.

BalloonSlayer · 30/03/2020 09:31

Oh god the secondary school science lab masks! Those things are so scratched you wouldn't be able to see to find a vein on someone's arm and so disgusting you'd probably catch bubonic plague off them, never mind coronavirus.

limpbizkit · 30/03/2020 09:52

Morning all. I'm about to do some science experiments with my kids and a bit of arts and crafts stuff. #makingmemories #mummy and her crew #bezzies #lovinisolation ill make sure I pout and look serenely accidentally gorgeous. I'll put on a grey filter with daisies and watermarks on and a #stayindoors and oh of course, my 'NHS hero' one Grin

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 30/03/2020 09:56

@FunkyKingston
They're clearly not your friends.
Why even have them on there if you hold that much contempt for them?
With "friends" like you, who needs enemies?

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 30/03/2020 09:58

"no betty, your a cleaner for the water board"

Pedant alert (only because it's being repeated so often Grin )
"no betty, you're a cleaner for the water board"
Also, do we still have water boards after Thatcher privatised water in 1989? Should somebody tell Betty?

Grandmi · 30/03/2020 10:46

Agree with bishybammy.People cope in different ways and this is a really scary time for everyone.Maybe people should be less critical and just support each other .

‘Shoutout to all the hero grandparents sacrificing cuddles with their grandkids to help beat the virus’ has just appeared on my time line.

You’re right Beryl, I never realise it before but you are the true hero in this story. The fact your grandkids live 200 miles away is completely irrelevant.

Iwalkinmyclothing · 30/03/2020 13:38

Reading this thread has just made me feel better.

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 30/03/2020 13:38

ShamefulBlanket yes I live on the south coast in an area often referred to as Gods waiting room due to the number of older residents.

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 30/03/2020 13:39

Someone I know is stealth-bragging that PE with Joe is not challenging enough for her preschoolers.

Another person who has been muted for the time being spends all of her time curtain-twitching about her neighbour's children using their paddling pool, or their parents firing up the barbecue. She won't actually do anything about it because I suspect it's just the family/household using their garden, and she doesn't like them.

Chillicheese123 · 30/03/2020 14:49

I actually lol’ed.

A guy I know is doing daily ‘workouts’ on his Facebook live. Not like teaching them, just filming himself doing press ups for ten minutes etc. in the latest one I heard his Mrs going ‘what the fuck are you doing?’ in the background. Absolute classic.

onceandneveragain · 30/03/2020 15:03

@icebearforpresident yes just seen a very similar one on mine except instead of grandchildren it manages to use the word "littles" TWICE in the space of about ten words,("your littles miss you too!") which for some reason is a phrase so cutesy, grammatically incorrct and just generally sickening that makes me physically cringe!

EmpressoftheMundane · 30/03/2020 15:06

Thankyou for sharing this golden nugget of joy Grin

calpolatdawn · 30/03/2020 19:44

i saw a great post on twitter, "dropped some shopping off for my nan, didn't film it,... what a waste of time!!" Grin

Minxmumma · 31/03/2020 17:47

It's the homeschooling wonder parents that are driving me to distraction. A day by day, hour by hour of what they've achieved with their child today.
I homeschooled for 10years, rarely was it something to post online unless something awesome happened like our chicks hatching.

Promptly followed by the whole I'm in the 12 week shielding group but am volunteering for the NHS..... ok, great, wonderful and you need adulation via social media because?

Siameasy · 31/03/2020 17:58

If you play a little game with yourself you can look up people you know and have a little bet about who will be being dramatic, who will have the photo frame, who will “have Covid”, who will be posting sanctimonious shite, who will be scaremongering, who will be cashing in via their business etc etc it is quite fun

peaceanddove · 31/03/2020 21:42

The virtue signallers don't make me angry, they just make me feel a bit sorry for them because they obviously need constant validation from others in order to feel good about themselves. It's no way to live Sad

SuperMumTum · 03/04/2020 19:43

Fucking Tory voters clapping for the nhs makes me livid. Stop fucking clapping and have a word with yourself.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 04/04/2020 07:49

This was posted on my local FB page Grin There are so many surburban Stasi on there at the moment, frothing at other people being outside. Apparently, no one should go outside ever ....

I've left the group as it wasn't at all helpful!

To be utterly sick of all the social media virtue signalling right now
