Holiday booked for June - WWYD?

Hi. We booked with On The Beach to go to Majorca mid June, we have been paying in installments. I've checked and if we cancel now then we have to pay nearly £1000 for the flights, cancellations fees etc. I understand that if we are told we can't go then we will get a full refund.

But what do you think the likelihood of being able to go? Does anyone know whether you can change the dates with on the beach, so we could postpone until later in the year or next year?

You are right, advice from travel experts is that you have to wait for the company to cancel you, rather than cancelling yourself if you want to get a refund. Which can mean making more payments in the meantime. They would probably be happy for you to postpone rather than get refund, but personally I would take the refund when offered as I am pessimistic that this situation will be resolved before 2021. In the meantime airlines and hotels could go bust etc.

I would think likelihood of going is probably pretty small unfortunately so you might want to mentally prepare for that. I wouldn't do any holiday clothes shopping yet!

Were in the same predicament. Cant move the holiday as weve had to coordinate leave etc so we made the decision to just pay it off as if we are going, rather than lose the money completely by cancelling. If it goes ahead great but we know it's highly unlikely. If they cancel we get a full refund. Have seen lots of people who have cancelled their holidays and are now kicking off they arent getting a refund. We cant afford to lose about £4000 as weve all saved ridiculously hard to go so are just having to sit and wait basically.

The balance on our holiday booked early July was due in the next fortnight. I spoke with the travel agent and asked them to confirm what would happen if I paid the balance and the trip was subsequently cancelled and they offered to push the balance payment out to mid May when the situation hopefully will be a little clearer.

Our holiday is mid June. All paid for. Just waiting for the company to cancel and we will get our money back. Was all paid on credit card so a refund would just go back on that.

We are in the same boat but not due to go until mid August balance due in June. Cant see the holiday taking place and not sure i would want to risk being ill particularly with CV in a foreign country. I don’t want to loose our deposit so hanging fire for now but come June i wont really be wanting to pay the remainder of the balance.

Slighty similar. Flights are booked for Italy for mid June. Luckily we have built the package so hotels are booked but not paid for. Gona have to see what happens with regards to flights but cannot see going to Italy as responsible even if the lockdown is over by then so should really cancel the hotels now but cannot bring myself to admit we are not going. I have another holiday paid for in august to greece so just gona have to hang tight for that too. Small fry in the grand scheme of things but we have been lucky to not be affected financially so far so I need to keep telling myself getting upset about it is first world problems x
