So, it's my 40th coming up in a couple of weeks. Clearly being confined to the house with only my husband and kids for company was not exactly what I had in mind 😬 but I'm sure there's loads of things we could do to make it still a great celebration. Please spam me with any of your ideas for a fab lockdown party! Thanks!

What sort of person/family are you?

Foodies? Outdoorsy? Sporty? Quizzers? Film buffs? Like a pamper session? Fancy dress enthusiasts?

We had dhs 40th yesterday. I already had balloons and banners and a cake. Got a load of pizzas when we did our shopping, let dh pick the films. Called family.
All we would have done different is have a few pints in the pub and actually see family.

What sort of things do you like to do? How old are your children?

Missikat13 · 28/03/2020 19:04

As a family we're outdoorsy, love camping, good food, eating out, having a good party and dance, don't mind a spot of dressing up. Our original plans was going to be a weekend away with good mates and no kids, plus prob a night out and a nice meal in a restaurant for me and DH.

I'm also turning 40 in the next couple of months, and have two young kids. I will be ignoring it completely.

Put up the tent in the back garden with xmas lights. Bbq or picnic outside and lashings of Alcohol!

Bubblysqueak · 28/03/2020 19:17

Think I would do what ludothedog suggests, or an indoor BBQ if weather is awful (we had one for ds when weather was grim and it was fab) I would also do a group WhatsApp with friends and family.

Picnic in the lounge / garden with rugs, music etc.

You know the Xmas fire tv stations? I wonder if they do beach scenes or similar.

I'm 40 next week, we were supposed to be flying to Seoul tomorrow to celebrate! So, I'm going to bring Korea to me on my birthday, going to cook korean food, drink korean drinks, will probably get the kids to make Korea flags etc

Why not pick your favourite country OP and have a themed birthday. You could even dress up, listen to music, watch movies of your chosen theme etc. Make it fun!

Have a good one, whatever you do 🥂

iklboo · 28/03/2020 19:26

@Rowdythree - that sounds great even if it's not my birthday.

NeedToKnow101 · 28/03/2020 19:28

You could invite people to join you on Zoom or House party.. drinks, music, dancing etc..

BeaLola · 28/03/2020 19:50

I would do what ludothedog said & pitch tent outside, bbq & disco - perhaps if you pitch tent night before you could wake up outside for your 40th , your DH could with childrens help being you breakfast out there - OJ, champagne, croissants, full fry up whatever is your favourite. you could make it a pj party, 40 years worth of songs on playlist
