To ask you to show me your baking/food?

I'm using up some over ripe bananas and have a spice banana loaf in t'oven. I'll post a pic when it's out of the tin. As long as it doesn't look like the dog produced it.

Anyone else got delicious looking pics of food they've made? Not normally something I'm into but I think some of us are probably cooking/baking more than usual.

I cook from scratch a lot but haven't made a cake for a while.

DD’s made an amazing chocolate cake this week. I was at work and for some reason they doubled the recipe, so I took me and froze it for DH’s birthday next month (frugal!)

Made soda bread last weekend, a lasagne for lunch today and just made gingerbread biscuits with the DC so they can decorate later.

Ds2 made crispy chilli beef the other night . He's 19 but doesn't ook much usually. I think I'll get him to cook lunch today but not a Sunday dinner.

@FamilyOfAliens I have attached the recipe, it is one I had from a Friend's book she found in a charity shop.

@FazakAli That may well be my summer project! I did a combo of smoking hot griddle pan and the grill on hottest setting.

DP has requested hot cross buns - I'll report back!

Can anyone recommend a lemon cake recipe for me? We're on 14 day quarantine and didn't do a massive stock pile, so shopping very, VERY sparingly... I have SR flour (plain is nearly out...), some oil, eggs, greek yoghurt and ALL the sugar in the world, it turns out! I've also just soaked some chickpeas for supper so have aquafava. But am limited on butter so that's the priority to avoid: can anyone recommend a recipe that will use the minimum in ingredients....?? It's my nephews birthday, so we're having a virtual birthday party later :-)

If you have Instagram follow @katgoldin and she she stories attached to her page, for growing the starter (used instead of yeast) and also another for making the bread.

This is the most simple instructions I’ve found, and are just great.

If you don’t have Instagram, just look up YouTube for how to make a sourdough starter and then how to make sourdough bread.

It does seem quite complicated (that’s why I’d advise watching the videos), but one you get into the swing of it it’s really easy!

Can white and wholemeal flour be used interchangeably? Found a no added sugar banana loaf recipe but I only have white flour.

Spam88 that would be fine. Wholemeal normally gives a denser texture and doesn't rise as much as white. Wholemeal pastry is crumblier

Beef stew - beef, onions, carrots, celery, pancetta, tin tomatoes, marmite, stock, mushrooms with mash (with cottage cheese as it needed using!)

If anyone is running out of containers for the freezer, Ive been freezing two portions in the bottom of a larger plastic container, then flexing it out and putting in a plastic bag. They then stack a lot better and you can get more in the freezer.

It's pretty crap. I think the recipe called for way too much water, I ended up with something more like batter than bread dough, and the result is damp and doughy in the middle. But we ate it.
