To ask you to show me your baking/food?

I'm using up some over ripe bananas and have a spice banana loaf in t'oven. I'll post a pic when it's out of the tin. As long as it doesn't look like the dog produced it.

Anyone else got delicious looking pics of food they've made? Not normally something I'm into but I think some of us are probably cooking/baking more than usual.

I cook from scratch a lot but haven't made a cake for a while.

Depends how much flour you have but what about something like:

Honey and cinnamon buns
Banana bread
Chocolate and peanut butter brownies

Passion fruit drizzle cake - delicious

Ok I improvised
Added baking powder in case the flour was plain
Used granulated sugar
Used less bananas than it said
One banana bread!

I've found a recipe for honey cake I'm going to try too

Made my 3 year old a cookie monster cake for his bday. Not my finest moment

Like the Cookie Monster cake - when you eat the eyes it can transform into the cookie monsters paw

I tried to make crumpets but I couldn't handle the hot rings to get the cooked crumpets out, re-grease and put the next batch in. Could you tell me how to overcome this ?

If you put a little bit of flour in an egg cup and mix a few drops of vinegar and it fizzes, it's self raising!

It is tricky cos the rings do get quite hot! I used cookie cutters and lifted them off the crumpets with a fork and a spoon (they should lift off easily enough). I think that's actually what the recipe suggested. Once you've managed to get the ring out the pan I think they are then touchable within a minute or two anyway.

One idea I had is melting a bit of butter in a small dish and re-greasing the rings with a pastry brush? You wouldn't have to touch them so much then. Hope this helps at all

Today was my DH b'day. Children and I made him a cake. Simple sponge with caramel cream (whipped about 300ml double cream with 3/4 of a tin of Carnation Caramel) and drizzle of hot chocolate with salt between layers- lovely, not-too-sweet salted caramel cake. My DH is a key worker, and was very happy to get this during a lockdown when he came in after 10h shift.

Dd and I made a pineapple upside down cake. No cherries or pineapple rings, but it tastes bloody delicious!

Been baking bread for friends and family, this is a plain white but I’ve done a couple of sourdough boules too. Luckily I’m always stocked with bread flour. Haven’t been able to get plain flour for weeks here. Everyone will be getting sourdough from next week as I’ll be out of yeast but luckily my sourdough starter is going great guns!

I used to cook all the time, and I’m pretty good at it, but mental health issues tipped me over the edge a couple of years ago and I’ve barely bothered since. I’ve started again, with this situation, mostly comfort and batch food. This thread is added inspiration so thank you. I’m avoiding cake as I used to run a cake baking business so still feels like work.

Last few days have been my best Bolognase sauce, homemade coleslaw and minestrone soup. The minestrone is from Nigella’s How to Eat and is undeniably not pretty to look at but utterly delicious and feels like it might be doing me good.

Tomorrow will be quiche.

Popcorn, rice crispies, date syrup, butter, white chocolate with dried apples, pears, mango and satsumas!
