I'm using up some over ripe bananas and have a spice banana loaf in t'oven. I'll post a pic when it's out of the tin. As long as it doesn't look like the dog produced it.

Anyone else got delicious looking pics of food they've made? Not normally something I'm into but I think some of us are probably cooking/baking more than usual.

I cook from scratch a lot but haven't made a cake for a while.

Go on then, show me your grub Wink

@Frazzledbutcalm, I get my flour from Marriage's (UK). Had a delivery about 2 weeks ago, although it took longer then usual (about a 2 week wait).
Worth a try.

Oops, sorry!!

Not sure what happened there with my previous post!

Tuesday's creations:

Dorset apple cake made by my 18yo (she's usually more of a cook than a baker). It was very tasty.

My 15yo made orange shortbread, which was also great.

Both recipes were their first attempt at these recipes, so I think they did pretty well!

My 15 yo was tasked to make dinner from what we had in and it had to include an ingredient that I had chosen (bulgur wheat). She made sweet and sour chicken from scratch (no jar) with bulgur wheat in place of rice.

This cooking challenge is something I've set my 2 dc to do, so they're taking it in turns. I'm hoping to teach them to be a bit inventive and to able to rustle up a meal from anything. Will be especially useful for uni!!

Homemade pizzas. DS2 made the dough and DH the tomato sauce. One without cheese, one with cheese and tuna and one with veg.

I tasked my 8 year old to make a cake today- she searched for the recipe and printed it out, made the cake (I put it in and took it out of the oven) she used a ready made chocolate fudge frosting and a flake to decorate... the recipe called for some vanilla but we didn’t have any so she dissolved half a teaspoon of coffee in water and added it... not the tidiest but it tastes fab

Looks lovely, berry, bet she's (rightly) proud of herself Smile.

Mistake in my last post though. Getting my days muddled up. The sweet/sour dish was yesterday, the sweet stuff was today.

Knowhowufeel2 · 31/03/2020 21:53

That looks delicious, Hack. Do you have the recipes?

@Knowhowufeel2 she is chuffed to bits with it!

I’m craving a cheese scone so going to make those in the next few days.... got to finish the cake first!

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 01/04/2020 00:38

I made a rhubarb and pear crumble today.
I kept the fruit compote and crumble mix separate and only used a third of each - that way I'm not tempted to eat the whole thing & feel stuffed afterwards.

Some more fruit based baking: greengage clafoutis, raspberry friend and an almond tart topped with sliced pears and muscovado sugar

@Sihaya

Your photos are amazing! They look good enough to go in a cookery book. How do you get the lighting so perfect?

incognitomum · 01/04/2020 10:08

@Sihaya I agree you're obviously a very talented photographer.

It appears someone on Flickr is using your images and have been for several years. Maybe you need to check the copyright position with them Wink
