To think this man should have kept his kids at home!

So was taking my daily exercise today and walked through a park which is within 1km of home (which I won’t be repeating). Walked past a man with his kids who were playing - at a distance with some others. He was chatting with a mum there (also at a distance) and saying how one of them has chickenpox hit he wanted to get him out..

Ffs - there’s already a massive contagious deadly disease and you bring your kid the park with chickenpox?

It depends have they scabbed over ?? Where they still contagious xx

maddy68 · 27/03/2020 23:45

If he's social distancing it doesn't matter. Can't catch it anyway

Youwonjane · 27/03/2020 23:45

No idea - I didn’t get close enough to tell - he was with three other boys (who I assume were brothers) so maybe quite new if he was referring to jist one and not them all - but they could have maybe had it before.

I could just hear the dad all like “well he’s got chickenpox and he’s fed up and you can’t keep them cooped up forever etc”

I wish everybody would stay out of everybody else's business. Every thread is about somebody seeing somebody else do something that horrifies them like we are all gossipy busy bodies.

Tinty · 28/03/2020 00:09

So you didn’t get close enough to see if his spots were scabbed over, so they stayed well away from you. Then you are being unreasonable.

Coronavirus is not supposed to be airborne so as long as they were outside and not in shops then it is perfectly fine.

Chickenpox are also not airborne.

Youwonjane · 28/03/2020 00:35

@tinty - I was far away - the woman and her kids chatting with him were not.

Youwonjane · 28/03/2020 00:36

But seems I’m unreasonable by the comments so fair enough!

Staying cooped up seems appropriate if you have chicken pox...

Not if it isn't contagious it doesn't.

It's just pointless and unfair on the children.

I think maybe I was just a generally dismayed - the park was busy, people not really taking any steps to distance. I’d only been walking around my own area until then and people have been really careful. In the park - not so much! Joggers flying past really close, kids playing football etc. Maybe it clouded my view. 🤷‍♀️

I think he should have kept them at home but I’m on the over cautious side always.

LuluBellaBlue · 28/03/2020 09:26

I think you just found someone to be angry at? 🤷🏽‍♀️
If I were you, I’d take a look inside and realise this is your anger, your issue around how you feel about what’s going on and stop projecting it at random people

Youwonjane · 28/03/2020 10:40

@LuluBellaBlue Perhaps? To be fair - while I may have internally “projected it” it’s not like I went marching over demanding he go home - so maybe better I get a bit cross in my head with a random man in the park than anyone I’m living with! Grin

@WorraLiberty - it was a joke: chicken... coop... Wink

Quite.

Cunninglittlevixen · 28/03/2020 12:37

Yanbu op

LuluBellaBlue · 28/03/2020 14:44

Yes but my point was, if you were that much caught up in this situation and couldn’t see that actually this is your stuff and your issues - then isn’t it better to figure out why you’re angry, and release it so it doesn’t happen again?
Otherwise you’ll just do the same to the next person / situation.

ilovesooty · 28/03/2020 15:18

If you were far away how could you hear the conversation?

Deux · 28/03/2020 15:22

where’s the risk though? If the child isn’t near anyone else how could anyone catch it?

Bear in mind the government advice even with Coronavirus is you can exercise as long as you maintain social distancing.

Tootletum · 28/03/2020 15:24

Go on shop him to the police then.
