Fancying stuff I'm not normally fussed by

So... since there's been shortages in the supermarkets, schools closed, social distancing etc, I really am in the mood to do stuff I'm not normally fussed by:

  • I really want to eat an egg sandwich (don't usually eat eggs or bread!), but I have NO eggs, and neither me or DH have found any for a couple of weeks!
  • I am in the mood to go to a farm to watch lambs being born - not usually an animal person though
  • I really want to do the school run (normally counting down the days til the next hols!), I miss normality!

So what do you fancy to eat or in the mood, that you aren't normally bothered by, just because you can't?

I was watching something earlier where a scene involved a tea shop, and now I have a massive craving for scones with jam and clotted cream. Normally I'd have decided if I could be sufficiently bothered to walk ten minutes to Tesco for them.

BestestBrownies · 28/03/2020 20:53

DP and I usually take BestestDog to the beach (a deserted, dog-walking one), once a week. It’s a 30min drive, so not allowed and I am really, really missing it

ViciousJackdaw · 28/03/2020 21:22

I want to watch some sport. Any sport will do. Even golf.

RollaCola84 · 28/03/2020 23:39

@BestestBrownies - that is allowed. Not by the jury of Mumsnet apparently, but it is

SharonasCorona · 28/03/2020 23:40

I’m allowing myself a rare sugar treat and I have a massive craving for GBK’s chocolate milkshake. They closed on Friday! Knowing I can’t have it is making me want it more.

BestestBrownies · 29/03/2020 09:20

@RollaCola84 I thought non-essential car journeys were off the table in case you have an accident (therefore unnecessarily burdening the NHS and exposing yourself to needless risk to the Coronavirus in hospital).

crosspelican · 29/03/2020 09:24

Thought this was going to be a thread about Rishi Sunak.

For me it’s just crisps. Also MASSIVELY wanted dim sum last night.

Macaroni46 · 29/03/2020 09:27

@Papergirl1968 I feel your pain! I've a tube of immac tucked away just in case 🙈

Chillicheese123 · 29/03/2020 09:28

McDonald’s breakfast
Go swimming

FizzyPink · 29/03/2020 09:32

I want a Nando’s so badly right now, followed by a trip to the cinema with the reclining seats and a big bag of pick n mix.

Then I’d like to get dressed up and go out for a fancy dinner and drinks in a bar with DP. It’s my birthday this week and all plans like this are off and I know he spent so much time and effort planning the perfect birthday for me Sad

And then I’d like a bikini wax

Macaroni46 · 29/03/2020 09:33

@RollaCola84 non essential car journeys should be avoided and exercise should be taken close to the home.
Please stick to the guidelines. For those of us who do still have to physically go into work, the less mixing we all do the better.

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 29/03/2020 09:43

I usually hate going food shopping especially tomkarge supermarkets and hate having my cupboards and fridge overflowing with foodstuffs. I like to shop infrequently and just have in what we are going to use in the coming few days - the complete opposite to a hoarder.

Now all I can think of when I wake up is going on big food shops - I keep dreaming of wandering the aisles of Tesco and Sainsbury's with a full trolley and wanting my cupboards to be overflowing with food (which they are not).

Ifonlywecouldwishuponastar · 29/03/2020 10:22

I want to socialise and maybe even go out drinking which I never do

NachoNachoMan · 29/03/2020 11:36

@crosspelican haha well he is pretty dishy 😉😉

Honest Burger’s rosemary fries. 🤤😥

FizzyPink · 29/03/2020 15:15

Oh @SwerfandTurf those chips are heaven! Their chicken wings as well Grin

HollySideEyes · 29/03/2020 16:05

I might do OP.

CMOTDibbler · 29/03/2020 16:57

Fast food. I'm not normally bothered, and not even a massive takeaway eater either, but now I want allll the takeaway. I live rurally, so fruit, veg, dairy, meat, bread is all plentiful (and we have our own chickens) so no food shortages at all. Except all the takeaways have closed, and now thats all I want
