Not following lock down

We have a friend who is an NHS worker. We are pretty worried on several points.

  1. she has a cough and is still in work
  2. she seems to think social distancing/lock down doesn’t apply to her and is going around to baby sit for relatives or going for a cup of tea with the elderly

She won’t listen that she shouldn’t be doing any of this and should be self isolating with her cough. Is there anything we can do/report her anonymously to have her sent home from work? (she seems to be hiding her cough at work somehow).

Her partner has a condition on the vulnerable list (not shielding, but still vulnerable)

Help, it’s people like her who are spreading this!

She told you she has a cough, then. Coz you aren't spending any time together are you.

schafernaker · 27/03/2020 19:57

I’ve heard the cough over the phone/FaceTime

can you report her to her workplace?

CharlotteCollinsneeLucas · 27/03/2020 19:59

If she can suppress it at work, it's not persistent.

Social services....

If she has a cough then surely she can't hide it all day at work in the NHS. I suspect you are imagining the persistent cough.

It takes two to tango. Those other people are happy to have her around. I know it is wrong but it's not all on her.

CheekyMango · 27/03/2020 20:01

I disagree massively with the above comment about it being suppressed! If it won't go away it's persistent, hiding it or not.

lettersbyowl · 27/03/2020 20:01

It is not your job to police what other people do. She needs to make her decisions in life, and you yours. Stay away from her, follow the rules for yourself and stay safe.

CheekyMango · 27/03/2020 20:02

Boris Johnson wasn't coughing through his broadcast and managed to suppress it enough....

lljkk · 27/03/2020 20:06

How many coughs was it, OP? I'm just wondering if the cough police have come up with an acceptable threshold.

Once an hour? Once a day? Once a week? Who defined "persistent" ?

schafernaker · 27/03/2020 20:29

@lljkk persistent enough for her OH to be concerned that she shouldn’t be in work.

Wow I’m so glad all of you would be happy to have relatives or yourself treated by someone who is suppressing their cough.

So We = you & her OH?

TheoneandObi · 27/03/2020 20:52

Whether she's coughing or not she shouldn't be visiting lots of people as described. And should know she shouldn't
