..... about going to give blood on Sunday morning. I get a legitimate walk into town, some fresh air and a choice of biscuits Smile

I always look forward to going but I'm really looking to this one.

Thank you for doing it. I can’t and am hugely grateful to anyone who can. Enjoy your outing!

WorraLiberty · 27/03/2020 10:58

Are you not allowed to walk into town anyway for essential items?

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 27/03/2020 11:01

Thank you Blush I'm taking the social distancing seriously but the blood centre has texted me every day, begging me not to miss the appointment if I'm well – which I am, thankfully.

I'm blood type O (very common but very useful) so I'm happy to be going Smile

@WorraLiberty

Yes, I could but I have a perfectly formed and compact Asda, plus a few other shops, right at the end of the street and so I can't justify going into the city.

Just want to say thank you too for doing this, I'm on anti convulsants and steroids and methotrexate so I doubt they'll want my blood but I would if I could.

Bloomburger · 27/03/2020 11:30

I'm going on Tuesday, never been so excited about the inane chitchat.

VirtualHugsAllRound · 27/03/2020 12:09

I suppose blood stocks will go down if they're unable to do workplace based/mobile donations now.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 27/03/2020 12:20

Fuck me: 15% of people think that I'm being unreasonable. Hope you don't need the blood Grin

Queenoftheashes · 27/03/2020 12:23

I’ve just been, got a long walk, mini cheddars and a club bar.
Feel dreadful now though. I’d stopped due to low iron but they have had a big drop in donations so felt I should go.

blueskys72 · 27/03/2020 12:39

Rehydrate Queenoftheashes and take it easy for a few hours CakeBrew

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 27/03/2020 12:42

@Queenoftheashes

Yaaay for you. Well done for battling through: they really will need the blood. I'm a bit jealous about the Cheddars and Club: bring on Sunday Smile

OP posts:
Flippetydip · 27/03/2020 12:46

Well done OP - I haven't given blood for ages as had a couple of donations refused due to low iron (not dangerously low, just a bit iffy) so you have given me a nudge to try again. Just tried to book an appointment though and next one not until 21st April! Still, I've booked in for then.

Likethebattle · 27/03/2020 12:48

I go as often as possible usually. I am B neg which is rare. Free biscuits and a lie down.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 27/03/2020 13:06

I just tried to register to give blood and they've said they have a huge number of people registering so will take some time to get back to me. This is a good thing.

How2Help · 27/03/2020 13:39

YABU.

Because now I want a biscuit but have none.

I haven’t voted though, because clearly you aren’t actually BU.

GreenMachineMmm · 27/03/2020 15:06

I am B neg which is rare. Free biscuits and a lie down.

I'm AB+ which is also rare. But we can only give to other AB+ people so they don't want my nice rare special blood. (They do want males with AB+ though for the plasma).

I might have a biscuit and a lie down anyway though... Wink

Igotthemheavyboobs · 27/03/2020 15:09

Can you do this if your pregnant? Currently searching for any excuse to legitimately leave the house

Waxonwaxoff0 · 27/03/2020 15:11

YANBU. I wish I could do this but I'm single with 6yo DS and don't want to ask anyone outside the household to look after him at the moment.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 27/03/2020 15:12

Igotthem you can't if you're pregnant
