I’m trying so hard not to shoot the messenger in these dreadful days. But just feel sick to the teeth of the BBC’s mega doom-mongering on CV. We KNOW the situation is Shit, we KNOW everyone is suffering but the overall commentary just seems to revel in misery and suffering. Doses of uplifting stories are carefully measured out in minuscule drips...just to stop us all sinking into abject misery. I’m sick of them...Sky way more balanced, BBC World more balanced.

BBC news yesterday evening had a long daily mail type piece about 'lets all clap for the NHS' and I've seen lots all pull together on=line choir stuff, focus on volunteer efforts.
If I hear another piece of cheery folk music at the end of the Today program I will scream.
WHat do you want them to say? everything is OK, lets all go to the beach?

If you don;t like it, don't watch it.

ihatethecold · 27/03/2020 09:30

Turn it off then.

somegoodnewsforonce · 27/03/2020 09:31

You don't have to watch it

Ynci · 27/03/2020 09:33

Actually I think they have done a brilliant job,

Punxsutawney · 27/03/2020 09:34

Mrs I think they need to pull back a bit on the 'news specials'. BBC Breakfast this morning and then straight into another news special on BBC 1. Most of the time they are just repeating things they have told us many times or filling it with interviews that aren't news.

I think normal TV would be fine this morning and then they could update us again at lunchtime. I can understand them showing the daily Downing Street broadcasts but the amount of extra news on BBC1 seems excessive when you have a dedicated news channel.

When times are difficult a certain amount of normalily is very important and I think we need pretty normal scheduling on BBC1.

Sparklingbrook · 27/03/2020 09:36

I have been restricting watching the news to once a day in the evening, as it's relentless.
Dr Hilary and Lorraine Kelly seem to be going over and over everything on ITV currently.

SamSeabornforPresident · 27/03/2020 09:37

They need to make it seem serious or idiots will keep going out.

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 27/03/2020 09:38

It is there if you want it and switch off if you dont. Personally I find the updates important. It should not be on a loop for children. Stick to child friendly news like Newsround
