OK so there will be unprecedented demand now and in the upcoming times

I watched the advert and half way through, thinking they were going to talk about how they were trying to be there for people that needed them and to be patient and keep calling.

NO

After starting about what they are facing they immediately went into 'We need your money' 'We need you to pay us' 'We need you to set up a standing order'

I was just about to make a donation when it started being a begging advert and now they can fuck off. I'll donate to local charities not to national ones where the directors are taking a salary far higher than I ever earned.

I don't care if anyone thinks I am BU really, my money my choice.

Charities; share what you are doing but paying for national TV advertising (during Contagion on ITV2) for begging letters - forget it. You won't get a penny from me.

Some prime time slots are paid for by larger organisations as part of a deal alongside their own adverts...so don't assume.

They need money to do their work, they can't support people without it.

Of course it's your money your choice. No argument there.

Shelter doesn’t pay their staff particularly highly. On that basis you being unfair

I saw an advert last night where they said someone's landlord was chucking them out due to corona. They always need donations and do a great job but this felt to me like them jumping on the bandwagon.
I don't give to charity based on tv pleas. I prefer to give to local charities and do my research first.
Its personal choice who you donate to.

How rude of them to try and make money for those in need.
