Hi I really need some advice. I'm in tears. I've never been good at flossing but I've tried alot harder lately I've always had pretty good teeth ! Lately my gums are receding. I have 2 peridontal pockets in my front teeth and I'm so scared.. my teeth are everything to me and I have 2 black holes in the front. Will I be able to get anything done ?! I cant see a dentist due to coronavirus. I've been so upset please no nasty comments :( can this be reversed are there any surgical options I can take. I'm only 30 and this is really affecting me

Don't panic. When things are open again you can see a periodontist. It's expensive but yes they can do things eg gum graft if necessary. You may not even need that. In the meantime, don't brush too hard. Perhaps google brushing techniques for receding gums.

Could you try oil pulling with coconut oil?

Thanks so much for replying. I'm going to order some raw coconut oil and try and see a peridontist asap. Thank you so much ladies x

Think gum grafting has been around for awhile and a bit of googling reveals a pinhole technique where they can loosen the gum above and stretch it down to cover the exposed bit of tooth.

I picked up a book about cosmetic dentistry- well not just cosmetic but functional too- in my dentist's waiting room a year or two ago that had loads of before and after photos of all sorts of cases and was utterly, utterly amazed at the possibilities. Ok they probably chose the most extreme cases with the best outcomes for maximum impact but still...some absolute trainwreck mouths that you would think went beyond repair years and years ago, painstakingly transformed into good looking gnashers with an explanation of how each was done.

Not cheap probably, but I bet when you investigate after CV has died down you will find that it is totally do-able. I have slight gum recession and when I can afford it and mentally commit to the aftercare I'll probably get it sorted.

I was advised to use TeePee brushes instead of floss, if you can get on boots.com they sell them
