To think Rishi Sunak would make a far better PM

...Than Boris. I'd be happier with him in charge he's more of a statesman and seems intelligent. AIBU?

His voting record speaks for itself..... I really hope he never becomes PM but of course anything is possible

Mercurial123 · 26/03/2020 19:08

Definitely - confident, calm and articulate. I think he is outstanding.

Really?! You've seen his voting record?

sunglasses123 · 26/03/2020 19:09

So Corbyn and McDonnell are SO much better?? McDonnell sounds mealy mouthed and complaining for the sake of complaining. Once we are out of this I dont think Labour has a chance of getting into power for potentially a generation.

GrumpyHoonMain · 26/03/2020 19:11

He’s giving money away at the moment so that’s why a lot of people like him. Wait until he announces the tax rises and budget cuts that will pay for all of this. He is just BJ’s mouthpiece.

Tolleshunt · 26/03/2020 19:13

He is personally very impressive and clearly intelligent (not sure how I can account for his voting record tho).

He’s also a bit of a hottie - and not just in the context of politics - and is providing me with some much-needed happy daydreams. I’d far rather him than Boris.

InanOcadoQueue · 26/03/2020 19:13

I disagree sunglasses123 I think if Kier Starmer gets to be the next Labour leader he will be head and shoulders above Boris and that Labour will be in next.

Yes, because he's clearly gone to the TBlair Finishing School - sounds just like Tony!!

Mercurial123 · 26/03/2020 19:20

sunglasses123 your comments regarding JC and JM are irrelevant. Obviously, they will never be PM. Kier Starmner hopefully can bring the Labour party together again.

artichokehearts · 26/03/2020 19:26

The bar is so low that anyone with a brain cell is going to look good next to BJ.

He’s only surviving the daily press conferences by being flanked either side with people who might know what they are taking about.

Trews2019 · 26/03/2020 19:33

Hardly requires much imagination that a public-school educated, ex-investment banker with a multi-billionaire father in law is PM material.

Trews2019 · 26/03/2020 19:34

What the fuck is with the Tory tongue-bath on here?

Depressing isn’t it @demelzaaa.

Yes. Expert sandwich with waffle in the middle

What is a tongue bath Confused

No. He talks a good job I’ll grant you.

Everyone is far too hard on Boris Johnson

  1. From editor of the Spectator (increased circulation) to mayor of London to Prime Minister he has yet to fail.
  1. Even though he does not have attention to detail, his genius is his ability to choose good executives and to DELEGATE TO THEM. That is a management style that is incredibly rare because it is good.
  1. People laugh about his study of classics and of Churchill. Strangely, the major business schools are starting to do it to (rather than recycle outdated business models). He has literally studied leadership for decades. Classics is about philosophy and the ability to think. Outside the box usually.
  1. His handling of parliament even with no majority and with his back to the wall as an out of control Speaker, a baying opposition and backstabbers in his own party set out to cut off all his options .... how can you forget! It was exemplary.

I think people still seriously seriously underestimate Boris Johnson.

[his private life aside]

InanOcadoQueue · 26/03/2020 19:56

Is that you Carrie? Grin

He has literally studied leadership for decades
He may have studied it but that does not make him a leader

he has yet to fail.
The times he got sacked? The garden bridge?

Isn't Sunak just a mouthpiece though? He's just a half decent presenter but he's not making the decisions.
Have we all forgotten that SajidJavid resigned as Chancellor only a few weeks ago because he'd been told to get rid of all his advisors?

oblada · 26/03/2020 20:02

He's good looking but that's it. He's giving loads of money away so of course people are going to like him. But 6 days on and we still don't have the details of his furlough plan!!! It sounds great on the face of it but the details may not be that nice. What about employees on reduced hours? And 80percent is too much. We'll all be paying it via massive tax rises. To be honest it can't be that great if he needs to use a fancy word almost nobody knew instead of lay terms... so no not impressed. Too sleek. And really just a mouthpiece for BJ.

MrsExpo · 26/03/2020 20:26

Very impressive. Definite PM material IMO.

HollowTalk · 26/03/2020 20:29

It was quite interesting that he is going to change the tax rules from Self Employed after this has subsided.

I missed that - what's he going to do?

RishiSunakFanClub · 26/03/2020 20:31

I think he's good but he needs a few years experience under his belt. I think Boris is doing an excellent job in the circumstances not that I expect the left wing majority on MN to agree.

As for Starmer leading Labour into a win at the next election, despite appearances he's another Corbynlite and I think the chances of a Labour win are pretty low to zero.

LellyMcKelly · 26/03/2020 20:36

Boris has been a complete let down. He’s little more than Dominic Cummings mouthpiece. My cat could do a better job.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 26/03/2020 20:42

Rishi is the type of man youd want stroking your back not ravaging you (not relevant) I may or may not have had wine.

demelzaaa · 26/03/2020 20:43

He's good looking but that's it.

He looks like his mum still cuts his hair.

InanOcadoQueue · 26/03/2020 21:38
