AIBU to ask you to recommend a new phone for me?

I hate Apple - so thats an immediate no.

I currently have the P20 pro, and was dying to get the P40Pro, but now looking at the release it's just a no go - no WhatsApp, Facebook Google etc.

So, I'm due a renewal next month and providing a phone meets my needs, I'll go for a new one. If it doesn't - I won't, I'll just lower my bill.

And before any one starts, yes there are far more important things to think about. This isn't important at all.

But conversation about things that aren't Covid19 and bad relationships makes a refreshing change.

Bollaxe again, forgot to say:

Needs good memory - internal and expandable if possible.
Needs a good battery life (these two are the reasons I don't want an Iphone)
Needs to run google obviously.

YABU for saying bollaxe like an axe you are going to chop bolls with.

It's bollocks.

(I say this jokingly! Grin)

Honour - Its the P30/P40 pro internal hardware in a cheaper brand.

ThePants999 · 26/03/2020 15:14

Stick with your current one and get a lovely cheap SIM-only deal.

BarbaraofSeville · 26/03/2020 15:17

Look at Motorola G7 Power or G8 Power if you want the latest model. Battery lasts 2-3 days.

Andromeida59 · 26/03/2020 16:49

Unless there is something wrong with your current phone I'd hang on to it. I know this isn't what you asked but it's such a waste of resources and getting a new phone every two years is not mandatory.

Kelsoooo · 26/03/2020 17:03

My battery is dying on my current phone, so whilst I can muddle through, if there is a better option I rather would.

Some good phones mentioned, I'll have a look :-)

Does your phone offer battery replacement/fix to get it back up to 100% again, if you don’t want to change it, and then do a sim only deal like someone above suggested? (Although given current circumstances this is unlikely an immediate option but would save you a lot of money if willing to wait?

Are there phones that don't allow you to use google? I'm a little wary of all the information they gather about us, I'm interested to know about a device that you can't use google. I know it's not what you want Ok it just got me thinking phones that don't have Google

yunalis · 26/03/2020 17:13

I’m a pixel fan but no expandable storage so max 128gb. How much storage do you need? Oneplus goes to 256gb but again not expandable. Internal storage tends to be much faster though.

Kelsoooo · 26/03/2020 17:25

I hadn't thought about getting the battery changed, that would be good.

To the PP the Huawei p40 doesn't run Google apps so that's your answer.

128/256 would be enough, so thanks! I'll look at that too :-)

I misunderstood, I thought you were talking about Google the search engine, is that also unavailable on that phone?
