Can you imagine how many distressed airlines, utilities, shares, businesses, banks, properties these organisations are going to be able to acquire for a song when all this is done? It’s going to be a new world.

Lots of people are suggesting that priorities will be reset and countries will be kinder and more balanced, recognising the importance of health workers, family, community and so on.

But I think governments are going to have to be very tough and agile to make sure we don’t end up with a different sort of capitalism at the end of this, with bezos et al owning and controlling everything.

For example, maybe it’s time to rethink our approach to the EU.

Yeah but what makes you think they want to buy distressed airlines and banks?

I think they will do well, more because this crisis has made use all go "virtual", and that trend will probably continue when this is all over.

China will own the world at the end of this

longwayoff · 26/03/2020 06:57

They own the world already. Who will get through this crisis without using the companies mentioned?

Good point @longwayoff
