To ask about these symptoms (not CV related)

Thought I’d through this out to the wise mumsnetters - as I’m certainly not bothering a Dr with it at the moment.

Last night I woke up during the night shivering and felt a chill on my right side. I wrapped the covers around me more and went back to sleep.

I woke up again this time absolutely drenched in sweat - so much that I had to get up and change my pyjama top. The bed sheet beneath me was also damp. I had a really bad metallic taste in my mouth. When I got up to change I suddenly began shivering again, like just from the air in the room (window shut).

This has happened infrequently over the last 6-9 months, some time’s have been much worse in that I’ve been so drenched with sweat I’ve needed to change my pyjama bottoms as well and my top has been much much worse than last night.

As above, not CV related as it started a while ago.

Is this a symptom of anything, or just generally overheating in bed? I’m early 30s.

Also name changed for this, but been around a while (not sure why in name changed tbh Confused)

TIA if you can offer any experience of this.

Pre meno?

Allofaworry · 25/03/2020 22:22

I get this! I have no idea why either. I thought it could be my anti depressants but that’s just a guess

LittleHouseMouse · 25/03/2020 22:30

@Hellabove5 I hope not Sad Although I can’t say it didn’t cross my mind if I’m honest

@Allofaworry Aww I’m glad I’m not the only one! It’s awful, the metallic taste in particular. Sometimes I can still taste it the next day.

Do you take ibuprofen or one of its relatives op? NSAIDs can cause night sweats.

Jammydodger1981 · 25/03/2020 22:35

I get them, also to the point of having to get changed.

I can’t sleep without ibuprofen (cheers arthritis I developed at 24!) so it’s either pain and definitely shit sleep or drugs and possibly wake up in a puddle. Lots of fun!

LittleHouseMouse · 25/03/2020 22:37

I don’t take ibuprofen or any other medication at all (apart from the contraceptive pill since I was 19)

Ah, so you are rather young to be perimenopausal. Do you remember how old your mother was?

managedmis · 26/03/2020 01:16

Diabetic at all? Any unusual health things I. E what's your diet like?

Stuckfornow · 26/03/2020 02:09

My temperature shoots up days before I’m due on and I sometimes wake with soaked pjs, this used to happen more frequently when I was on the pill, still happens occasionally now...do you know if it links with your cycle at all? No idea about the metallic taste though, could be hormonal because it can be a symptom in pregnancy.

LittleHouseMouse · 26/03/2020 10:47

Thanks for your responses.

It’s at least a bit reassuring that others have experienced the same so I’m sure it’s nothing concerning, particularly since it’s fairly infrequent.

I don’t have diabetes or any other health conditions, im pretty fit and healthy with a healthy BMI.

Food related? My friend's son has a dairy intolerance, and would sweat a lot at night if he had any.
