I had to block someone on WhatsApp

There was a man who was emotionally manipulative and I have had to block him on WhatsApp. I have no intention on making amends with this narcissist. Will he know if I have blocked him? We used to message privately and in group chats.

I'm no expert, but I think he'll know. He won't be able to see your pic, or your 'last seen' time. If, that is, you had those in the first place.
Sounds like you have done the right thing though! Stay strong Thanks

Are you also blocking in real life?

ItsGoingTibiaK · 25/03/2020 20:45

It doesn’t tell him specifically but it’s pretty easy to work out. His messages to you will never get delivered and he’ll no longer see your profile picture, status or ‘last seen’.

Also, you can both still be in the same group chats and see each other’s messages. You just can’t message each other individually.

Iirc (yes, a friend and I spent an evening blocking each other, and sending messages individually and to groups), any groups will continue unaltered, and you will see each others messages.
If he sends you a personal message, it basically sits as a single tick.

SybilWrites · 25/03/2020 20:46

well yes, but why do you care what he thinks?

Claire926 · 25/03/2020 20:54

I know I should not be bothered but I want to make sure he gets the message loud and clear that I never want anything to do with him again. Once society is back open to us all I may have to see him twice again but I will just have to blank him as he overstepped the mark.
