Aibu to expect booking fees back?

I have started to get refunds for gigs, concerts etc that have cancelled. I bought 2 tickets from alt.tickets for a gig that has been rescheduled for Sept. We cannot make the new date and the refund is minus the booking fee of £8.25, (the tickets were £75) I don’t mind a small admin fee but aibu to think this is excessive and unfair?

I think you’re lucky to get a refund to be honest. Booking fee was cost of the admin involved in booking your ticket surely . I had theatre tickets but donated the cost to the theatre instead of getting a refund just because I wanted to stealth boast about it on mumsnet and my patience has paid off at long last

I think worse things happen at sea and wouldn’t get het up about it

Never saw that reply coming Grin

The lowest amount you should get is the ticket face value

Firsttimer16 · 25/03/2020 19:47

The company you bought the tickets from still had to do all the work to load information, process the tickets etc etc - it’s not their fault the gig was cancelled so they shouldn’t have to refund the “booking fee” as that was their fee for selling you the ticket - which they did. They sold you the ticket, plus probably had to do extra admin to refund it.

I would be happy with that refund - it's a reasonable amount.

They have been reasonable. Yabu to expect a booking fee back. You booked, that’s the fee for booking.

How is she lucky to get a refund? Its her legal right!

I think it's fine to not get the booking fee refunded.

Darkstar4855 · 25/03/2020 20:20

The admin fee covers the costs involved. YABU.

You never get the booking fee back. Why would you expect it now.
