Can I ask what your childcare provider are expecting paid?

Can I ask what your childcare provider are asking to be paid whilst the children are at home?
Ours are asking-
After schools club
100% payment for 2 months then 50% retainer fee until schools reopen.
I am not sure if I am being unreasonable in not wanting to pay this?

Thank you everyone for all the input. There is a huge variance in this.

After school club asked us to pay what we could so we are paying in full.

shinyredbus · 25/03/2020 21:39

Daughters private school : Full payment
Sons nursery : full payment

Thegirlhasnoname · 25/03/2020 21:42

Private nursery is asking 20% of our full monthly fees to retain our place for when all this is over and they can open again. It was going to be full fees indefinitely until the government stated they’d pay 80% of wages so I’m a happy bunny

mummyh2016 · 25/03/2020 21:50

Private nursery, not being charged for April and they've said they would carry over the days we've paid for March that were left to take when they reopen.
Feel very lucky as the opinion the week before was that we would be charged in full and it was stated in our contract we would have to pay.
Nursery was staying open for key workers but announced they were closing yesterday.

FunkyKingston · 25/03/2020 21:56

My sister has heard the nursery my niece attends are charging 90 per cent fees. Seems a total piss take. My niece had only just started so I hope they tell them to spin on it.

Greedy bastards

stanski · 25/03/2020 22:00

Our private nursery has waived all fees but will accept any contributions any parent wishes to give. I know we are lucky!

Letmegetthisrightasawoman · 25/03/2020 22:01

I'm a key worker and we've been asked to pay the fees in full. We're happy to do this, although it's unlikely DS will be going in for the foreseeable. I have to say I'm not sure how I'd have felt if I was suffering loss of income. Also don't know what they're doing regarding the children of non-key workers

carly2803 · 25/03/2020 22:01

thanks @snappycamper - what about those private nurseries who are only closed to non key worker parents?

they are open to key worker parents?

are they entitled to pay their team the 80% or does it have to be a full nursery close?

Meredithgrey1 · 25/03/2020 22:04

Private nursery thankfully not asking for anything (DH's job won't last more than a couple more weeks, otherwise we'd have been happy to pay).

feeona123 · 25/03/2020 22:04

Still waiting to hear from our nursery!!

My husband could loose the job he’s about to start and if that goes tits up then his current work are furloughing 33% of staff and making others take pay cuts!!

We’re a one income family and I’ve never felt so finically vulnerable in my life. He paid his £124 voucher so hopefully won’t be much more than that. If they want more than 20% then he won’t be going back as he starts school in September.

MondeoFan · 25/03/2020 22:07

50% retainer atm

froggymonkey · 25/03/2020 22:46

Private chain nursery, 50% charged indefinitely. Our one is actually closed, but we're still having to pay.

disneydatknee · 25/03/2020 22:50

Our after school club was asking us to still pay in full for the rest of the year to keep their business going even though they are not offering their services me anymore as I'm not a key worker! Eh no??

Merryoldgoat · 25/03/2020 23:43

are they entitled to pay their team the 80% or does it have to be a full nursery close?

You can only take the grant if the workers are furloughed which means essentially sent away with. I work - they cannot during that time do ANY work for you. You can furlough some or all of your staff but those working in any capacity are not eligible to be included in the grant.

Merryoldgoat · 25/03/2020 23:43

Sent away WITHOUT work. Ffs.

33goingon64 · 29/03/2020 20:47

My childminder is continuing to charge as usual. I have no problem with this. She is self employed and if she doesn't get paid by her clients she won't be able to afford to live.

Indie139 · 30/03/2020 17:44

No payment required for April. Parents who have paid receive refund. Taking contributions only

From May onwards, not sure at the moment

Nodancingshoes · 30/03/2020 18:19

Approx 30% on a weekly basis until government help arrives then hopefully less or nothing...we have furloughed about half the staff, the others are working split shifts to care for key worker children and being paid as normal. Not eligible for a grant other than the 80% for furlough - this was confirmed today. Funding still being paid and county should be paying something for the amount of key children with have. We will probably just about break even (hopefully). Mortgage and bills still need to be paid although less food. Contray to popular belief, private nurseries are not raking it all

Nodancingshoes · 30/03/2020 18:19

*raking it in

ComeOnEileen11 · 30/03/2020 19:24

Private nursery (regional chain). Not charging anything, but have said they are still paying their staff fortunately. They are staying open for key workers though and rang to check whether we needed a place before amending the April invoices.
I definitely have a new found appreciation for them.

Marahute · 30/03/2020 20:01

We aren't paying anything. Nursery fees for youngest and wraparound fees for preschool (core hours govt funded).

Wheresmycider · 30/03/2020 20:04

Large chain nursery, no fees until children are back. All places held open.

Smilebehappy123 · 30/03/2020 20:06

Our nursery have said nothing and will keep our little ones place open for her

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 30/03/2020 20:08

Mine is asking for 50 percent which seems reasonable to us
