Can I ask what your childcare provider are expecting paid?

Can I ask what your childcare provider are asking to be paid whilst the children are at home?
Ours are asking-
After schools club
100% payment for 2 months then 50% retainer fee until schools reopen.
I am not sure if I am being unreasonable in not wanting to pay this?

Private nursery. We are paying 60% of usual fees.

Essexgirlupnorth · 25/03/2020 19:39

We are both key workers so she is still going in but may change as will be working from home part of time from next week. I will still continue to pay as have a excess of childcare vouchers anyway and me and my husband are on full wages.
I know we are lucky in the regard but would like the nursery to still be there when this is all over.

Slippingcareer · 25/03/2020 19:40

Private crèche, asking for 20% of fees

honeylulu · 25/03/2020 19:41

Childminder - not charging anything
Offsite after school club/ holiday club - asked parents to honour invoices to the end of March given the sudden closure, nothing due after that.
Nanny - not an employee as she works for us as and others on an hourly "as required" basis but we have volunteered to carry on paying as a "gift". She is a single mum and world really struggle without it.

Ballet teacher is now giving her Saturday lessons by Zoom and has reduced the fees as she is saving on hall hire, though I've started attending her adult ballet session too!

Swimming lessons, gymnastics and karate clubs my kids attend have all suspended fees.

We are very lucky judging by some things I have read!

Sexnotgender · 25/03/2020 19:45

Private nursery, not charging anything while shut.

BreathlessCommotion · 25/03/2020 19:48

I tried to keep paying our childminder full fees, but she won't let us.

Jimdandy · 25/03/2020 19:55

@snappycamper thanks lol.

motheroreily · 25/03/2020 19:57

Mine hasn't said anything and I'm a bit nervous to ask. I was going to see what's announced for the self employed.
She invoiced us up to end of March which I think is OK as a lot of childminders ask for a month up front and it's only an extra 2 weeks. But I'm not sure after that. I need to ask but I feel awkward.

Lazypuppy · 25/03/2020 19:57

0%
All suspended and will be restarted when all goes back to normal

peekaboob · 25/03/2020 19:58

DDs nursery is charging 20% until she can go back. And they are sending weekly activities and videos from the staff. They also sent their normal schedule for each room so we can try and keep as close to normal at home.

amy85 · 25/03/2020 19:58

Private (chain) nursery - asking for no fees. They haven't mentioned the unused weeks of March we have already paid for

After school club - haven't had any contact from them so am assuming nothing

TwoZeroTwoZero · 25/03/2020 20:01

Our childminder is asking for nothing, thank goodness! She's even credited me back with half of the fees is paid for March.

raspberryjamlove · 25/03/2020 20:04

Our private nursery has asked for parents to pay 10% of their usual monthly fees and I'm happy with that.

oblada · 25/03/2020 20:09

A lot of CFs here!
Our nursery is keeping the fees for March (fine) but not charging thereafter. They may ask for a voluntary contribution (fine, they're fab).
ASC is not charging and the credit in respect of unused sessions up to April will be used when it reopens.

CM/nurseries/ASC asking more than half are CF.
Anyone demanding payment of anything is a CF.
There is the furloughed workers scheme + other help available for businesses. Self employed people should similarly be helped.

You may think you're fine because you're WFH at the moment but it's likely at some point most of us will be affected. I'm very busy at work atm and my company is quite big and strong but even they will now look to implement lay off/furlough/short time working in the next couple of months to weather the situation. Whatever 'savings' im making at the moment re childcare I'm keeping safe to deal with what's coming. It will hit us all.

Tobebythesea · 25/03/2020 20:11

Private chain nursery - no fees and a refund for the remaining days in March.

So much variation.

madnessitellyou · 25/03/2020 20:12

We pay after school club by voucher and it’s a complete pain to stop and restart payments from our salaries so we’ll keep paying. We’ll end up in credit but dd has another 2 years at the school so enough time for everything to even out.

whattodoandhow · 25/03/2020 20:22

The private nursery my son attends have asked for 25% fees from April, they are keeping the rest of March no refunds and if you don't pay anything you lose your spot.

RogueV · 25/03/2020 20:23

Private nursery is closed - we pay nothing

Breakfast club at school not running - we will get money back that we have paid already

Merryoldgoat · 25/03/2020 20:31

I’m paying CM and after school club full fees. DH and I are being paid in full currently so we’re paying everything as normal.

If our situation changes then we’ll reassess but currently we’re fine.

Jonsnowscodpiece · 25/03/2020 20:35

Just waiting to hear back from our private nursery and I'm dreading it. I think they are gonna be CF's

BlueVeins · 25/03/2020 20:43

ASC only ever charges us for what we actually use, so zero for that. Private nursery is charging us 30% as a retainer starting this Monday, very relieved!

michellejj · 25/03/2020 20:54

Private nursery, still open to key workers. They are asking everyone to pay full fees for March and April. No decisions made yet for the future.
Not happy obviously, but what can we do? I think the government really needs to clarify the support available to nurseries soon!

Singerleon · 25/03/2020 21:15

No refunds for March but only 25% of usual bill from 1st April until they are back.

cherrypie314159 · 25/03/2020 21:24

Our ASC is giving no refunds for fees already paid for March, but not charging anything for April. Not sure past that.

Getitdonesharpish · 25/03/2020 21:36

Ours have invoiced for the full fees incl lunch and afternoon clubs. So we are being asked to pay twice the amount of those who have only signed up for mornings but we will be getting exactly the same service (nothing). I love the nursery and the teachers but it really doesn’t seem right. Not sure how to tactfully broach it without upsetting people. It’s our last term so it’s likely that it won’t be open before we leave and I really don’t want to leave on bad terms.
