To report people for not isolating?

excitedforbaby9 · 25/03/2020 13:04

My garden backs into a 2 story block of flats. Very nice tenants never had any trouble but not one of them understands self isolating. All the tenants seem to be very close as they have all lived there for a long time. They are all currently outside sat on picnic benches, very close together. A mix of 70+ Year olds and then people who have invited grandchildren over. I know this doesn’t affect me directly but out NHS can not take anymore strain from the stupidity of others. Is there anyone we can report this to? I don’t want to clog up emergency lines obviously.

I'm not planning on reporting anyone for the record. If they want to be careless then that's up to them

iheartislesofwight · 25/03/2020 16:18

the usual entitled toss pots on here. selfish as always, 'it's not hurting you, nothing to do with you' just stfu.

Songsofexperience · 25/03/2020 16:25

There is such a thing as individual responsibility. You can judge them all you like but I don't want to live in a society in which it's ok to spy on each other.

HeartyGreenSalad · 25/03/2020 16:30

Police on the beach here yesterday as people were treating it as a fucking Bank Holiday
Some of you need to grow up
The police didn't think it was trivial when the OP phoned, so there's your answer

Applejaxx · 25/03/2020 16:41

But its not affecting the OP is it? They shouldn't be doing it, but honestly I can't imagine getting so worked up about it that I'd report them for it.

HugeAckmansWife · 25/03/2020 16:47

a good friend of mine had to have surgery on Monday - emergency, couldn't be delayed. Her absolute arsehole of an ex refused to look after their child because he "wants to wait til this is over" (so, possibly months then but that's no surprise). She HAD to rely on a kind neighbour. Her DS is ASD and needed to be cared for at home. Technically she's breaking the rules but are you really going to report her? Life is compolicated and those on here who keep screaming IN CAPITALS that people should just stay at home must have blessedly simple lives.

CarolHasAnotherUTI · 25/03/2020 16:48

Oh well, so we should all just carry on as normal, as it doesn't affect anyone else.

81Byerley · 25/03/2020 16:49

@Applejaxx These people who flout rules designed to protect us, affect all of us. You can be sure that they will spread their germs outside as well, because they obviously have no common sense.

Deux · 25/03/2020 16:52

I’m amazed at how many people would be rubbing their thighs to be informants.

CarolHasAnotherUTI · 25/03/2020 16:58

I'm amazed at the number of people that think it's perfectly okay to ignore the instructions that have been put in place to protect everyone as well as reduce the stress on the NHS.

It's like they think Boris is paying thousands of people's wages just for fun! He's a tory. They don't do that.

Deux · 25/03/2020 17:00

Boris isn’t paying anyone’s wages. We are borrowing and it will be paid back by taxpayers. 🙄

OoohTheStatsDontLie · 25/03/2020 17:01

I think in this case it's ok to report. I'm normally live and let live but people socialising instead of social distancing will, literally, end up with more people dead. Yeah its unlikely to directly affect me, since I'm not in a vulnerable category, but so what? I still don't think that doesnt mean we shouldn't act. Boris said the police would stop people congregating etc. If I saw someone breaking into someone elses house I'd report it even though it doesnt directly affect me. And the consequences of a burglary are much less dire than the consequences of a pandemic with a sharper peak.

OoohTheStatsDontLie · 25/03/2020 17:02

Oops just noticed i did a sentence with 3 negatives.

CarolHasAnotherUTI · 25/03/2020 17:03

Deux, but that tax would ordinarily have gone elsewhere. The financial provisions being made are unprecedented. This is not something to take lightly.

Where the money ultimately comes from is totally irrelevant to my point.

dejavuAgain · 25/03/2020 17:11

The lock-down is a busy-body's dream, right?

You go for it, OP

AnneJeanne · 25/03/2020 17:11

My ndn have been coming and going all day long. Her and her bf, then her ex come to chat with the children. Shopping, dog walking (first time I’ve ever seen that) and I can hear everything sitting on my sofa.

UnfinishedSymphon · 25/03/2020 17:18

It's so fucking annoying, my neighbours kids have been dropping their kids off next door and buggering off - no key workers, 2 brow techs and a nail tech, her sister has been coming and going every day. Yesterday I had to go out to pick up my meds from the chemist at a set time, there were 2 of her daughters out there with 5 kids between them, all stood on my drive chatting away. I zipped my coat right up over the bottom half of my face and fake coughed as I went past...childish but they soon dispersed lol

@Applejaxx
"But its not affecting the OP is it?"

If you see a neighbour getting into their car, drunk, on the same basis, it's nothing to do with anyone, not on their intended route.

To cope with this, all none emergency appointments have been cancelled. I'm knackered because I'm overdue my Vitamin B injection. Someone i know was due a circumcision op and is in discomfort. There was a, post by someone whose Father has had a heart opp postponed. If he becomes more unwell it won't go ahead and he will die before the end of the year.

We need this lock down over as soon as possible. So people can get treatments that they need, just for starters. As well as all the homeless people chucked out of the Travel lodges etc. People's lives are being turned upside down by the lock down. These idiots, will keep it going.

NotNegan · 25/03/2020 18:00

Both of my neighbours are key workers.

They have a friend over right now.

I just don't understand why people aren't taking this seriously!

FrogFairy · 25/03/2020 18:17

We have had a few nice days here. There have been droves of people using the local children’s play area. Adults chatting in groups and children playing together for ages. No safe distancing at all.

I wonder how many of them are carrying the virus and as a result of this how many people will be seriously ill or die that need not have done.

littlemeitslyn · 25/03/2020 19:44

' Rubbing their thighs ????' What the hell???

iheartislesofwight · 25/03/2020 21:20

it would be nice to stick all the self entitled 'i can do what i want' fuckers on a desert island and leave them to it.
