Where is all the chicken?

Kfc and Nando's shut, I still can't buy any. They're certainly not laying eggs either....

Do you really like chicken that much?

There’s none in the local butcher, the supply should start coming through again from next week (all being well). That’s what the butcher told me.

It's been nigh on impossible to get eggs and chicken here for the past two weeks or so.

The staff in our Tesco Extra say they just aren't getting the deliveries in.

Other meat and tinned stuff is missing too, it just isn't coming in apparently.

We have been eating more vegetarian meals and enjoyed them. But some chicken would be nice

The supply chain is having to be altered to get food that would have gone to restaurants, pubs etc into supermarkets , local shops and home delivery services. The producers and wholesalers want to sell, the shops want to sell, but it can't be trivial to reorganise.

We're in an area with a lot of egg production, that's the one thing we're not short of.

I've managed to get some in Aldi every week. Try there if you've got a local one.

I have one in my fridge. I expect it to feed us for a week

last week I went in to the butchers to get non chicken meat. they said that their order of chicken was stuck in france.

Musclefood have plenty of meat including chicken online. I've ordered mine through there

Lidl had chicken thighs yesterday and that was all. Most local farm shops near me seem to have plenty though.

It hasn't been much of an issue here. Flour, though. I'm already fuming at the number of people who bought it because they were afraid bread would go short and will end up with flour full of weevils because bread turns out to be readily available (at least here). We've been making our own bread for ages, dammit

Chicken or eggs are like pure gold round here haven't been able to get hold of either for over 2 weeks. Luckily i had a pack of eggs left which are in date until tomorrow and have been using them.

It's amazing what we won't take for granted again and if we come out of this unscathed we will value everything and everyone so much more. Family and food for which we take for granted

I'd like to think that's true, I had the same conversation this morning. But it will last a week and then everyone will return to normal unfortunately. People have very short memories.
